Former POW's of the war in Iraq  wave upon landing at Biggs Airfield at Fort Bliss army base in Texas, April 19, 2003. Seven former U.S. prisoners of war were flown back to the United States from a U.S. Air Force base in Germany. They were greeted at Fort Bliss in Texas by a cheering crowd waving American flags and yellow ribbons as they were reunited with their families. The two Apache helicopter pilots and five members of an Army maintenance unit were freed by U.S. forces last Sunday north of Baghdad after being captured in Iraq in March.

Rescued POW Shoshana Johnson is comforted by her comrades, Pfc. Patrick Miller(L) and Sgt. James Riley during a photo call at a U.S. military hospital in southwest Germany, April 18, 2003. Seven freed U.S. prisoners of war recuperating in Germany made a brief public appearance on Friday to thank Americans for their 'tremendous support.' The seven, two Apache helicopter pilots and five soldiers from a maintenance unit, were taken prisoner on March 23 as U.S. troops advanced on Baghdad. They were freed on Sunday by U.S. forces north of Baghdad and arrived in Germany on Wednesday

Former POW Chief Warrent Officer David Williams, left, meets his family after his arrival at Biggs Army Airfield at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, Saturday, April 19, 2003. Seven former prisoners of war returned home Saturday to a crowd of flag-waving family and friends, one week after they were rescued in Iraq
