With the way all of these countries are flirting with Neo-Marxism I can't help wondering if this the beginning of the Soviet Union Part 2

You have the right to bad dentistry, tight pants, a small flat and a wind-powered automobile. I can't wait for the Bidet Amendment.

A copyrighted Constitution?

If I had known nothing of the EU until today I'd have lost all respect for it over that point.

The commonfolk in Europe have become accustomed to such heavyhanded threats from their government.

I think he's referring to news article, not the constitution itself. I lost respect for the EU anyway.

Ah okay. I didn't follow the link.

Will this mean now that Europe is a single entity that we can drop them down to only one UN vote?

The Islamacists would love that much to Europe's dismay.

"Will this mean now that Europe is a single entity that we can drop them down to only one UN vote?"

Or do we get 50?

Good point!

Many Christians believe this text is referring to the EU. Personally I don't know, Revelation is a deep and mysterious book, with lots of symbolism, and can only be understood by the Spirit of Revelation. I do know we are living in the last days, when "all these things shall be fulfilled."

Revelation 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

Also, if this is true, the EU is is where the "mark of the beast" will initially be implemented.

From the EU constitution:

"The Union shall work for a Europe of sustainable development based on balanced economic growth, a social market economy, highly competitive and aiming at full employment and social progress, and with a high level of protection and improvement of the quality of the environment."

Yes, SOCIALISM is constituted in this entity.

Daniel is a much clearer verse than Revelation:

(Dan 9:24 KJV) Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

(Dan 9:25 KJV) Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

(Dan 9:26 KJV) And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

(Dan 9:27 KJV) And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

The people of the Prince that came and destroyed the City was Rome in AD70.

So, it may not be the EUin this form, but it will be a European Union of sorts, and it will have ten heads like Rev says.

Did they use the Dilbert Mission Statement Generator to come up with this tripe?

As much fun as it is to bash Europe, there really is nothing new in this part of the proposed EU Consititution. It is very similar to Article 2 of the existing Treaty of Rome (as amended by the Maastrict and Amsterdam Treaties):

"to promote throughout the Community a harmonious, balanced and sustainable development of economic activities, a high level of employment and of social protection, equality between men and women, sustainable and non-inflationary growth, a high degree of competitiveness and convergence of economic performance, a high level of protection and improvement of the quality of the environment, the raising of the standard of living and quality of life, and economic and social cohesion and solidarity among Member States."

It's all high level goals that don't really mean that much anyway, useful mainly for lawyers to argue policy in cases before the European Court of Justice.

As to this being a socialist document, well, most EU nations are socialist, so what sort of "government" do you suppose they would create?

Many hard-core Euro-leftists actually oppose the EU as they consider it pro-business and the fiscal discipline required under the Single Currency/Monetary Union is not seen as condusive to the growth of the welfare state.
