There is no post where I've ever indicated anything was yet confirmed. In each one I've said that I'm checking further sources. And even the LTC deal is relayed info that is no more than an early report.

You also are a poor thinker. This is not anything more than a DISCUSSION board. Guess what takes place on those? Could it be.......discussion??? Discussion is not journalism, nor is it reporting, nor is it required to adapt any standards that I've ever heard of. Discussion involves everything from speculation to tomfoolery to absolute seriousness.

Incidentally, another friend has confirmed that Abizaid is indeed a Lebanese Christian, although he has no idea whether he is a disciple or simply a notional Christian.

A very Clintonian spin to your definition of discussion. I suspect that for most people on this forum, discussion is assumed to be fact-based and truthful. Don't try & weasel your way out of what you did--your post was harmful to General Abizaid's reputation and potentially hurtful to him, his wife, and his family.

I don't think there's any harm in what I said. If you check I said something to the effect that "this just came in from a friend and I'm checking sources to verify."

If you will also check, you'll see the discussion about Christianity was a separate topic that related to an early question as to whether or not Abizaid was a Christian or a Muslim.

Are you a notional Christian or one of the real variety? If real, then you'll reread the thread and see the events unfolded exactly as I've said.

This is a living room. If I were sitting around with a room full of friends shooting the breeze about politics, war, religion...whatever....and the above message came in, I'd say to the room, "Hey, folks, listen to this." Then we'd bat it around.

It's a discussion forum/bulletin board on the web, and the odds of anyone reading AND caring about any given post is quite remote.

And...if these so-called professionals were to read someone saying, "Hey, wait a second, gotta check the sources." then they'd wait (unless they were the NYT) and see if it checked out.

You were the one who used the expression "hiding behind Jesus," so you are the one who opened the door to inquire as to your faith.

If you were one of His disciples, you would have jumped at the opportunity to stand up and proclaim Him.

Others commented and I responded. You really need to read these things more closely instead of just reacting to sentences you think you don't like.

For what it's worth, I'm a strong GW Bush supporter and a $$$ giver. I don't want him to make a mistake with any appointee anywhere...but especially in the military because I'm a military retiree.
