We know that time is coming, it's a matter of time. Yet another reason we've chosen to keep our children home while the pedophiles wait in the wings with "teaching certificates" to have "valid" relations with children and teens once we get to that point. Everybody had better hope weapons rights don't erode much further. No government has lasted for an extended period of time and I say within 200 years or less, people will be defending themselves again in this country against the government or their deviant neighbors. I don't know if it will even happen in my children's lifetimes, but I intend to arm them with knowledge and power so that they may send the info down through the generations. I really am not a self-reliant kook hiding in the backwoods, but I think the writing is on the walls and a little prudent preperation without being completely paranoid is in order. I intend for my line to carry on when this mess finally explodes and then settles--I don't think that will be possible for a good portion of Americans who have carried the mantra for far too long of "not rocking the boat". Those types will still be passive and giving in even when the gun is to their head.

That and perverted people can also have kids and "raise" them.

Perverted people come in all stripes and sexual orientations, my friend. There are religious wingnuts every year making the news who beat their children because they found some verse in the Bible they liked. How about the wackos who deprive their kids of medical attention, because the Bible demands it? Take Rudolph...hated gays like no one's business and became a homegrown terrorist in the process.

The world is a bit more complicated than straight/gay, perverted/normal. I know a gay couple raising a child who are far better parents than most I've met. Discounting them and their family out of hand is an ugly and stupid thing to do, to put it kindly.

hey biggot, it's not a question of religion nor of government, it is a question in fact of adult governance, AIDS and many other sick individualist Libertarian Politicaly correct tyranical rights that kill, "rights" the Libertarians promote.

This law in effect, sir, allows women who are sodomized by their husbands to not appeal for a divorce. This is a defacto legalization of abuse.

So, you apparently believe having laws that demean people is a good thing. How odd.

It's only a matter of time now before some NAMBLA pervert goes to the court and says that his 6 year old neighbor loves being molested. The Supreme Court has already set the stage with this decision. It is not a decision about privacy, it is a decision about morality. They've said that the government cannot legislate morality. So if it can't legislate against sodomites, how can it then legislate against other perverts? How can it then say what is the age of consent? If an 11 year old says he wants Pee Wee to have his way with him, how dare the government impose its view of morality on them! They’re not hurting anyone! Hurrah for Libertarianism!

Wow.

Where'd you go to law school? The Northern Illinois Academy of Welding?

Interesting that you state that those who support this law are either stupid or child molestors.

Then as proof, you cite your own fantasies about 6-year-old neighbor boys that have absolutely nothing to do with this case concerning consenting adults.

Please stick to the facts at hand, and do not share the weird movies that run in your mind with us.

I, too, know several gays, and a lot of the guys think they do have that right. They live in 'Boys Town' in Chicago...

Then again, I also know some gays who believe that attitude is absurd. The core issue is that too many people believe they have the right to do anything. And that simply isn't true.

Exactly.

Adults can't be trusted to govern themselves when it comes to their consenting conduct behind closed bedroom doors.

We need the state to do that.

The state needs to publish a list of which sex acts it approves of, and which sex acts are verbotten.

Then we can start up a Department of Homeland Sexual Morality, and enlist a bunch of citizen spies to peek in their neighbor's windows, and see if they can see anything icky going on.

Then all they have to do is call in a complaint on the homeland-homo-hotline, and the government will send agents to take them away.

Everyone poking around in everyone else's business.

Everyone ratting out their neighbors.

It'll be great... just like back in 1940's Germany.

Maybe we can even put them in concentration camps.

I live in San Francisco, and have met many, many gays. I don't think I've EVER heard that position espoused on a single occaison.

In #249, you describe your community as very conservative. And yet, somehow the gays around you are clamoring for kinky sex anywhere, anytime.

It always strikes me as odd that the heartland is the center of gay activism, and not SF, NYC or LA. I'm sure it's a plot or something.

Major victory for gay rights and libertarianism.

I suppose the fact that this law was voided by judicial fiat in the face of the popular will of the people of Texas is lost on you, emmy. That is exactly the point with libertarianism. Libertarians aren't friends of democracy. In fact, when democracy gets in the way of their childish predelictions, they're more than happy to mow it over with their Toro YardMaster and then stuff the clippings from the bag in their bongs.

Privacy is guaranteed by the fourth amendment, as we are to be secure in our homes, papers, etc. But, it sounds like privacy's not an issue with you. So, I take it that you'd be OK with the government folks coming into your house to see what you've been doing on your computer and whether you're feeding your children healthy meals?

The problem is, the consequences don't stay in the bedroom. The Red Zone

It should be private and in their bedrooms.

Insurance companies should be able to refuse to issue policies, or should be able to charge appropriate premiums to homosexuals.

Public sex, including toilets and parks, should be prohibited.

Proselytizing homosexuality in public schools should be ended, as well as "gay safe zones" and after-school queer clubs. (The Libertarian position would be to make all schools private.)

"Sexual preference" should be eliminated from discrimination laws. (The Libertarian position would be to eliminate all discrimination laws except those prohibiting discrimination by the government.)

Were people allowed to act more freely, I suspect homosexuals would either stop clamoring for "celebration" and keep their business private, or they'd gather in enclaves.

Either would suit me just fine. It's not normal, it doesn't deserve "celebration", it's not good for the people who practice it, and I don't approve of it.

Most of the people busted for prostitution are convicted for negotiating in public with an undercover police officer, or having sex in public places such a parking lot known to attrack prostitutes

And it therefore follows, in fact it is certain, that the proprietors of establishments located in private homes, where consenting adults exercise their liberty of contract in matters having to do with sex will be off the hook as soon as SCOTUS can hear their appeal.

Where in the Constitution are States granted the right to legislate the private everyday conduct of citizens based on sexual preference? The law in question bans homsexualy sodomy but not heterosexual sodomy.

Is not a person's sexual behavior part of their life and is it not also a liberty and a "natural right" as defined by the term liberty?

If the USSC had issued a specific ruling making 'sexual conduct' a private right that is guaranteed protection from state rights, THEN you are opening the door to rulings on incest, child porn, etc.

They did not do this and I so no reaon why incest, statuatory rape laws or child porn laws are somehow in jeopardy as a result of this ruling.

Homosexuals do not want privacy,

I'm pretty sure that was how this case came about. They liked to scream and yell and make a lot of noise to annoy the neighbors so one day one of the neighbors called police and said there must be a burglary or a murder going on there.

SCOTUS finds constitutional right to anal sex in the emanations and penumbras of the 14th amendment. Repeal the 14th.

The issue is the IMMEDIATE danger it presents to the rest of us.

There is a real danger, but its IMMEDIACY is questionable in my mind.

Which is precisely why banning smoking in bars and taverns for owners who want to have smoking is SO STUPID when compared to this ruling. You don't have to go into the bar. Reasonable precautions will prevent NON-IMMEDIATE danger to anyone who doesn't want to choose the danger.

That's sophistry, much like the government kicking down doors to see if you're having an abortion

You want the government knowing what you do in your bedroom? Did you know it's illegal for married couples to have oral sex in S.C.? Do you think that law ought to be enforced? And please tell me HOW?

Using that train of thought, should do away with child abuse, since that mostly happens behind closed doors.

Child abuse is usually discovered because of injuries to the child. Also has nothing to do with consenting adults. Different situation entirely.

The issue is this: laws define the morals of a society. When we ban sodomy, we are saying that homosexuality activity is immoral and ought not be encouraged, much like we ban prostitution (sex for money), but not sex for free.

Unmarried sex for free has also been illegal. Problem is, how are you going to enforce it?

You don't have to "spy" on a neighbor, which is what the 4th Amendment is for, but for when the crime is observed or come upon, like the vast majority of witness-associated crime occurs.

How are you going to enforce sodomy laws?
