Recall or Revolution?
Sac Bee ^ | 6/30 | Weintraub
Running away won't help. Eventually, the liberals get tired of the destruction they have sowed, and move on to better environs - where you moved to.
Excellent idea to start to recall the legislators. The demoncrats are scared silly that the Davis recall will spread to other useless riders on the government gravy train.

Long Beach Press-Telegram Editorial: "Recall Davis, elect Arnold"
Long Beach Press-Telegram ^ | 9-28 | Long Beach Press-Telegram
 - Gov. Gray Davis is a career government bureaucrat who ascended too high. His shameless pandering to campaign contributors, obsessive micromanagement and extreme timidity toward any type of risk- taking served him well on his rise to the top, in various No. 2 positions, but those same qualities proved disastrous once Davis was elected to govern, a job that requires leadership.

Bill O'Reilly stated on his radio show that he has never seen anything like it. It has become a personal attack on Arnold. I've failed to see in the media any outrage at Bustemante's racsim (usally media goes ballistic over statements which even might be considered by some to be racist) or Davis's treatment of women and his incompetence.

Recall shock therapy
Washington Times ^ | Thursday, October 9, 2003 | Stephen Moore/Paul Jacob
The scandal is that less than half the states give voters the right to recall their elected officials. We think this should be made a basic right of voters in all states and at the federal level. Recall is the ultimate voter safeguard to keep politicians honest and accountable.
We need more accountability for appointed officials, too. And maybe all laws and regulations should sunset automatically after a few years, unless reauthorized by a recorded vote of a current legislature- so they, too, can be held accountable for bad laws.

That's exactly why Arnold is signing Democrats on board so they have a stake in his success and they'll bear the blame for the failure if things don't change for the better in California.

One of my favorite reactions to this recall was Peelosi's - how dare we, the voters of CA, think we can possibly issue ultimatums to our rulers by telling them they are not demi-gods, not our bosses, but work for us.

Your colorful -- if distracting -- graphics aside, I agree. Hillary Clinton was indirectly repudiated by this recall. Her husband orchestrated the Democrat response, and it not only failed -- it failed spectacularly.

Let the Dems fight for tax increases. Let them appear on the TV news every night complaining that Schwarzenegger won't raise taxes. At least then, if there is a new tax bite, voters will know who imposed it.
