age discrimination is a vicious component of our workplaces.

Anyone who denies the existence of age discrimination is either a fool or a liar. I've seen it happen time and again to my older coworkers - laid off and unemployable for even the most menial tasks at much lower pay due to being "overqualified".

I know two whom I will hire just as soon as I pull in this big contract, and no, I'm not sponsoring any visas at this time.

There's a special place in hell for all the modern day Marie Antoinettes who suggest that the laid off somehow deserved it.

Buy American. Hire American. Eff Chicrap and Mexicrap. And Eff the french on general principle.

Hey, if you can be a CEO, go for it!.

I sure couldn't.

But if you want the government to preserve your job for you, move to France.

Industry thrives only as long as it's competitive, and for various reasons, some of our industries are no longer competitive.

But things change. Many of the industries that are moving away are crummy assembly-type things that drive US employees crazy, or they are jobs that (as happened to a family member) rot your body and make your fingernails and toe-nails fall out.

However, things are happening: many of the white collar jobs in NYC and other big metro areas are moving to the South and other parts of the country, not only to be able to pay lower wages, but to get an English-speaking work force with good work habits. So some of the people whose factory job has gone away are going to get something entirely different.

Industries (and jobs) come and go. Change is the essence of being an American.

On the other hand, I agree with you about CEOs: stockholders and Boards are wimps, and should be demanding that CEOs and other officers actually produce and create profitable businesses. This may mean things like investing in infrastructure, which stockholders (who want quick profits) are notoriously reluctant to do. But it may also mean that the stockholders and the Directors they have elected should do a lot more to hold the CEO's feet to the fire.

You MUST grasp the concept. Diversity, Tolerance, Love, Equality, The Big Tent, A Place At The Table, Free Trade, Jobs in China, India and Mexico, Mass immigration, Gay Rights, Preferential Admissions to Universities and jobs will solve all. Who needs to work, who needs to eat? Enjoy!

Unlike past recessions, even the depression, those jobs are not coming back, never coming back.

Not only that, the new technology jobs to replace them won't be created in great enough numbers to give this economy boost like during the hyped up Clinton years. Not in my lifetime. During the Clinton years all the talk was about how America was deporting old industry jobs but this was fine because the new economy type jobs were what we were moving towards. But now the new economy type jobs are being deported to India, China and others.

Put frankly, less people are needed to produce more stuff.

That's correct. Go to the front of the line.
