Liar in Chief - The Case for ImpeachmenT (John Dean BARF Alert)
The New Haven Advocate ^ | July 16, 2003 | John Dean

Posted on 07/17/2003 10:14:17 AM PDT by BillyBonebrake

President George W. Bush has a very serious problem. Before asking Congress for a Joint Resolution authorizing the use of American military forces in Iraq, he made a number of unequivocal statements about the reason the United States needed to pursue the most radical actions any nation can undertake--acts of war against another nation. Now it's clear that many of his statements appear to be false. In the past, Bush's White House has been very good at sweeping ugly issues like this out of sight. But it's not clear that it will be able to make the question of what happened to Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) go away--unless, perhaps, the Bush administration starts another war.

That seems unlikely. Until the questions surrounding the Iraqi war are answered, Congress and the public may strongly resist more of President Bush's warmaking.

Presidential statements, particularly on matters of national security, are held to an expectation of the highest standard of truthfulness. A president cannot stretch, twist or distort facts and get away with it. President Lyndon Johnson's distortions of the truth about Vietnam forced him to stand down from reelection. President Richard Nixon's false statements about Watergate forced his resignation....

A president cannot stretch, twist or distort facts and get away with it.

To make a statement like that and then reference Johnson and Nixon, but not Clinton is to expose one’s agenda a little too plainly.

Frankly, I hope the WMDs are found, for it will end the matter.

What a moron. He’s all upset because he thinks the president told lies. But if the gist of what the President said turns out to be true, then “it will end the matter”. If you are going to accuse the President of lying, you must point to a specific sentence and declare “That is a definite lie.” The fact that WMD might turn up later would not change things.

But of course, Dean doesn’t see that. He really hopes that WMD are never found. He hopes that our intelligence sources were incorrect. He hopes that President Bush can be nailed to the wall for accepting intelligence reports are facts.

Dean is, was, and always will be a slimeball.

He can name some of THESE after he is done with YOUR question.

The Big Lie accusing XY-43 of an edited "big lie".

Aiding and comforting the enema from this doctor is dangerous to our troops in all theaters while we're at war, but Dr. Dean and his Dem voters don't much care. He wants political power. They want political power again. They all want Nam circa '73- '74 so our guys only get shot in the back as run.

Vermont's socialism at all costs is once more mestasizing into the American body politic.

I'd love to see Dean locked in a room with the G-Man for 30 minutes. Dean owes G. Gordon about 7 years of his life.

I don't suppose that the standard applies to Dimocratic Presidential Candidates though...

Shades from another thread....but....I wish Pat Robertson the best. I really wish he would pray (along with me) that a liberal's tongue will catch fire each time that liberal lies. Just think, Nancy P-lousy wouldn't have a hair left on her tongue.
