Reading between the lines of Williams' statement, I don't find "defrock the gay bishop" anywhere.

I did find "put some ice on it", though.

I'm guessing they know a split is coming. The Bishop will probably be "uninvited" in a nice ceremonial way that values everyone's feelings. In other words, they see this is going to hurt the money.

Who is the 'head' of this Church?

Why the head of this Church is the monarch of England. You know, the ones that used to chop peoples heads off if they pissed them off.

Oh, you're so wrong. They're going to promote "inclusiveness" and "democracy" and "progressiveness" no matter what.

The people they've offended are just supposed to put up with it and be "tolerant".

I am already hearing that the Anglican Church in South Africa (17 million strong) are planning to break from the Episcopal Church of the United States.

You know, I'm having a very hard time with this. Gays have had my tolerance and acceptance. They've had my friendship as well. I have had gay friends since high school. Still have some today (those who haven't died). And God help me, I am so angry at them now I will have to avoid seeing them. Even though they had nothing to do with this and are probably almost as shocked as I.

Because if I saw so much as the tiniest flicker of a satisfied smile on one of their faces, I would want to remove it physically.

If they're going to identify as a group, and seek group rights, they'd better be prepared for group condemnation. Radicals have finally destroyed my church this week; there's no other conclusion to reach. Any of my friends who see this as a positive development, or try to benefit from it, are dancing on its grave and are no better than its murderers.

And they can all go to hell.

I think many Episcopalians are waiting to see what is said in church this Sunday. It think most will hear Rectors trying to take the middle ground and appease both sides. I know there are many who will be angry with this... Some I know are already saying they are ready to leave. Many will look to the Catholic and Lutheran churches.

I'm not Episcopalian, but I did read yesterday that the bishop here in Oklahoma voted to confirm the homosexual. Some of his parishoners are vocally unhappy about it.

I think many Episcopalians are waiting to see what is said in church this Sunday. It think most will hear Rectors trying to take the middle ground and appease both sides.

I fully expect this Sunday to be a "church of the Laodiceans" Sunday in every diocese that supported, promoted, accepted and condoned the election of a homosexual to the office of bishop.

I feel a big spew coming on.

Yeah, the Bishop in Baltimore (Robert Ihloff) did as well. I think what is somewhat more upsetting is the fact that they are still trying to play both sides. Many of them are saying things like "I understand the concerns" and "we have a very wide divergence of opinion" and "this is only one of many issues being dealt with" and so on. They are trying to downplay the whole thing in an effort to avoid the schism that should take place after a moral departure of this magnitude. You can't play politician from the pulpit. I am a Catholic, and I'm just as updet over some of the things that have gone on in the Catholic Church... but at least we don't (and never will) have an official sanctioning of this activity!

I was saying the same thing. I think you will have many gays who are agnostic, loosely affiliated with other religions, or maybe just not involved in any faith will now flock to this church. Some may even use it as an opportunity to meet other gays (a pick-up place). Well, maybe we can have the best of both worlds... Maybe the gay priests will now have a home and leave the Catholic Church... thereby resolving two issues at once.

Communion between the three churches ... it would be nice. Maybe this vote, along with some of the problems in the Catholic Church will actually help make this happen....
