Hey,my little girl cannot have anything with phenylalanine in it.No milk,no meat,no cheese,no nuts of any kind, nothing with very much protein at all.In fact we buy her special foods with the phenylalanine removed.Maybe I should have the school system outlaw all foods with protein in them.Seems logical(not)

Drink skim milk, it's better.

Maybe for adults --- but kids need all the fat soluble vitamins you find only in whole milk. They also need fat.

You really think it's going help fight obesity?

I don't. To fight obesity they'd eliminate the bus stops that are within 3 miles of the schools, they'd cut out all the white flour and sugar.

Whole Milk Taken Off School Menus

It seems fitting in a perverse way--since the kids are in school getting watered-down and adulterated education they may as well be getting less nutritious milk.

I think I heard someone touting the milksuks website on George Noory's show. He sounded like a complete nut bar, and certainly biased. My husband has been drinking milk for 45 years, and everyone should be so healthy. None of the claimed ill effects show up in him. I don't drink very much milk, so can't really say. I do eat some cottage cheese and yogurt, however. I'm also very healthy. I'm just not buying the anti-milk claims. As for the claim that lactose isn't digestible, that's true for many people. They lack the enzyme lactase which is needed to digest it. If you lack that enzyme, you'd know it pretty quickly after ingesting milk. You did say that milk was "animal tissue", and not digestable. And as to pus, are they referring to white blood cells in the milk? Probably. I have no plans to go visit that website. I prefer my scientific information from more objective sources. Just listening to the guy spouting his anti-milk hysteria turned me off. He also sounded like an animal rights activist. And he did sound hysterical. And it WAS George Noory's show (the new Art Bell) after all.

>I think that anti-milk web site is just a little biased. Any relation to PETA?

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!

I never claimed that it would or wouldn't.

That's what the USDA seems to be claiming.

This is not a big deal.

And it's not. It's just one more small illustration of stupidity in government.

They want to cut out the fat in whole milk, yet, in our school district they offer "orange drink" and lemonaide - they are nothing but sugared water...... so it's ok for the kids to drink sugar at lunch, but not whole milk......

I have concluded that the biggest mistake one can make is to listen to an "expert."

American kids? Need fat?

A reduced fat milk will provide all the viatmins necessary without extra fat. You know darn well that American kids don't suffer from a lack of fat in their diets. It's not like we're in the depression and everyone is eating beans and potatoes.

My two year old daughter drinks 2% milk now. She gets enough fat from the rest of her diet. It's only infants who have milk as a major part of their diet that need whole milk.

Whole milk is fattening and it tastes like you're drinking butter.

That's your opinion, fine. But it's not unanimous. For the small amount of milk I drink (in tea in the morning, occassionally with a health-powder mixed in for a snack), I find that whole milk is more filling and it doesn't spoil as quickly.

Drink skim milk, it's better.

Again, that's your opinion. For growing students who get very hungry during the day, I would suspect some filling whole milk is healthier than filling up on junk food snacks. And, because of the spoilage issue, keeping it drinkable in school cafeterias creates whole new issues.

Again, this is more of the pc nonsense that makes no sense. We keep reading that kids are heavier than ever. Maybe, just maybe, it's because of high fructose corn syrup and other junk in their foods. That, and the time they spend at sedentary activities instead of active play just might be the issues.

Of course, a true conservative would say that students shouldn't be getting any kind of subsidy for lunch, and the parents should be providing what they eat.

<^..^>

Nothing wrong with 2% milk. Our schools went to lower fatted milks years ago. Now, if only schools will throw out the coke and snack machines and teachers quit handing out candy every 5 minutes.

My answer is, "You can leed a person, but you can't make they learn." As Rush Limbaugh says, Americans have the right to be stupid as an endorsement of cigerettes. And of course Americans have the right to be obese and to have a variety of medical problems. Hillery and the Dems figured out that if Americans died before they reached Social Security age that it would save the Gov. a lot of money which they could then spend on the Welfare state for the Dems. constituents.

Got to agree with you on the milk. Kids need butterfat. It helps with neurological development. Remember: fat does not make one fat. It's all the carbs we feed our children.

Am I the cow that holds the sign for Chick Filet? No, I tried to educate the Freepers about the hazzards of the Dairy Industry. There have been Americans who got cancer and other serious illnesses and they changed their diets and got well. Thus, if any of you Freepers do get sick and you want to get well, there are lots of web sites where you will be able to learn how to get healthy. Good Day.

I appologise. I should have sent you to WWW.milksucks.com instead of www.milksux.com I'm not trying to stear anyone wrong here, I believe that each person should look at the facts pro and con of every issue. And they should look at the facts from every possible angle before deciding where they chose to stand.

Don't tell me- let me guess! Whole milk is being replaced by Soy milk. Soy milk contains plant estrogens that will no doubt help the Publik Skool system in the quest to feminize young boys. America will probably end up with a generation of young men that grow breats upon hitting puberty.

"You can leed a person, but you can't make they{sic} learn." As Rush Limbaugh says, Americans have the right to be stupid... You calling me stupid? I guess you are. If you're going to talk about stupid Americans, which apparntly includes me, spell correctly. It's "lead", not "leed". I have a background in science: Biology, physiology and anatomy. I'm not buying the nonsense that milk makes you sick. If that's true, I'd like to see some actual scientific studies from an unbiased source. As I said, not everyone has lactose intolerance and can digest it just fine. If the proteins and sugars (lactose) in milk cause disease and illness, then the same would be true of other animal-based proteins (and there are those that believe that to be true). And since humans are designed to be omniverous (check out the dentition and digestive systems),and that includes meat and dairy products, I'm not afraid to eat meat and dairy products.

And of course Americans have the right to be obese and to have a variety of medical problems. Nice. Neither my husband nor I are obese or ill, and we both eat meat and consume dairy products. So do millions of other perfectly healthy, normal weight Americans - as well as millions of non-Americans. Overeating and lack of exercise cause obesity and obesity-related illness. Whole milk just isn't the culprit here. Please stop the hyperbole.

Hillary, Rush Limbaugh, the Dems, Social Security and dying before reaching SS age - What a list of demons here. Hillery and the Dems figured out that if Americans died before they reached Social Security age that it would save the Gov. a lot of money which they could then spend on the Welfare state for the Dems. constituents. Have you tied this to drinking milk? Puhleeeeze. More hyperbole, and just a tad conspiratorial.

Go call someone else "stupid".

However, consider this: During the 1930's the Catholic Church placed NAZI flags in the Catholic Churches all over Europe.

If this is your idea of "facts" then it's no wonder you believe milk-based fairy tales you find on lunatic websites.
