The US gets quite a bit in return from Israel...Not to mention what the US got for our close regional ally, Egypt. The Sinai, which should have, could have, been a home for the refugees, had Carter's peace treaty really been a comprehensive peace treaty, resorts like Sharm al Sheikh and Taba, GWBs talks this year with Arab leaders would have been in Israel, and over $100 billion in oil reserves. Not a bad deal.

So, why aren't negative stereotypes of groups of people acceptable...If true, of course.

No problem, Arabs have the highest per capita rate of terrorists. Islam is the only religion that teaches murder is pleasing to god and can get you into heaven. Want any more? -grin-

would you rather have IDF hunting terrorists in their backyard, or US troops being sent over there instead to go after Hamas and the rest of the PLO terror organizations?

I agree that aid should be looked at. However, it should be a seperate issue to discuss that shouldn't be used by the Bush administration within its plans for middle east "peace."

I'm of the opinion that some of this aid was given to Israel so that it would accept peace agreements with Egypt and Jordan.

Note well Alouette's post at 79, copied from another site. Does it come across harsh? Nope. The writer is right on target. It was "Steve Omega" who authored ISLAM: A Critical Review who a few years back argued the same ideas.

Quote: "Unlike the inspirational verses of Isaiah or the advanced rationality of Jesus’ parables, the Koran only offers rote learning. To invest so much time in memorising such lines makes it unlikely for you then to question them. The little children taught to memorise the Koran instead of multiplication tables at the madrassahs (religious schools) have no spiritual maturity that would allow them to form alternative questions. At least the little children learning the parables of Jesus are advancing their understanding of how metaphors and analogies can be used to illustrate deeper spiritual truths.

" ... Whilst God has provided guidance via the commandments and teaching through the parables, it is important for each of us to understand and recognise what is good and what is evil on a case by case basis. Simply saying something is bad or something is good rarely works as a blanket application, and simplistic orders are something a robot can do. Mind you, it is the nature of cults to produce these robotic types. They memorise texts without understanding, they regulate every aspect of life, insist on frequent brainwashing techniques of ceremony and prayer and don’t accept reasoning or criticism. This is why Islam is a cult and not a true religion. It offers certainty about God’s nature rather than the path of understanding a complex nature offered by most religions...."

Islam is the root of the problems in the Middle East; the opposite foundation of the success of the Judeo/Christian West.

Free Republic's so great. We wouldn't get this stuff any where else.
