No, he doesnt know a neo-conservative from a Reagan Democrat, but there you go. People desperately trying to make the GOP a *minority party* by running off whichever crowd doesnt match their purist ideals 101%, even when they dont even understand the ideas they oppose.

I swear, I think there are some idiots who desperately *want* the GOP to lose, just so they can have the privilege of whining about socialism and saying "I told you so
... rather than handle the responsibility of power and realities of compromise and doing pragmatic politics.

You asked what Heinlein thought, here is your answer.

History does not record anywhere at any time a religion that has any rational basis. Religion is a crutch for people not strong enough to stand up to the unknown without help. But, like dandruff, most people do have a religion and spend time and money on it and seem to derive considerable pleasure from fiddling with it. -- Lazarus Long

We are typical of what the GOP used to stand for.

No you're not. You are one of the Religous Extremists who have hijacked the GOP.

I voted for Goldwater back when we didn't have to ask for the approval of a Theocrat before voting.

It's a shame that the Proof in Labeling Laws don't apply to politics. Otherwise you couldn't call yourself a Republican.

You Theocrats are frauds and a cancer on America.

Uh, ok LPM. If I read correctly, what you're saying is, "once we jettison all those darn conservatives, then our party can suck in a bunch of clueless, noodle-spined idiots with no inner convictions and then we'll be a BIG party that doesn't stand for anything!"

I never said anything "jettisoning all those darn conservatives".

We must jettison all those Religous Zealot Theocrats who are mascarading as Conservative Republicans.

Why should the states have to get permission from the Feds to outlaw partial birth abortion, or to allow mothers to have INFORMED consent before having the procedure?

Because we have a Constitution that protects us from Extremist Religous Zealots.

what warped religious agenda? Kicking prayer out of schools, even if it is a private, voluntary prayer among students?

Disallowing children to talk amongst themselves about Jesus while encouraging them to practice Islam for a month?

You and your children have a Right to all of those things. You are free to do all of them in a private school paid for with your money. But don't expect to come to a public school and use it as a forum for proselytizing the children of others.

Fighting for laws that say your daughter doesn't have to get your consent to get an abortion, even though she does to get an ear piercing?

Having a baby to care for is a life-long commitment, one that your daughter will have to live with long after you are no longer her legal guardian. She should not have to ask your permission on how to live the rest of her life. Comparing an abortion and an ear piercing is ridiculous.

If you were concerned about the possibilty of you daughter needing an abortion then you should have been a responsible parent and provided her birth control options.

Thank you I will.

Make sure you use plenty of bleach on your sheets. Can't have those robes getting dingy.

Hmmm; I kinda, sorta remember a 10th amendment in that Constitution; as a true Republican, why would you want to give more power to the Judiciary?

Don't you think the citizens of the states should be able to make the laws that affect them?

Oh, but it's OK for SIECUS and GLSEN to proselytize in the government schools.

I think you need a history lesson .... BIG TIME!!

You should read Heinlein's "Revolt in 2100" to get a good feel for his predictions about the dangers of a Theocracy controlling America.

The GOP has always been about fiscal conservatism????? Always until 2000 and on, you mean, since they are spending my grandkids' money like it is going out of style.

I am embarassed by the spending habits of the GOP since 2000. They have had their chance to show their "stuff" but they are setting themselves up for a reverse of the 1994 , 2000 and 2002 gains. Someday a I may be ashamed to admit to my grandchildren that I was a Republican.
