Amen!

Maybe that is the new Democrat plan, get democrats thrown out of office, and elect Republicans and then wait for the next election to really teach us a lesson!

Talk about contorting. Dean should have just kept his thoughts to himself than start contorting this recall into something positive for Democrats.

Especially since Republicans pulled in like 2/3 of the vote.

BRILLIANT comment by Dean...Californians are fed up with REPBULICAN leadership in Bush, so they revolt and elect a REPUBLICAN governor....liberals NEVER believe that they ARE the problem...it is always someone else...it is never their stupid policies and ideas that are rejected...they are the excuse peddlers..."they had more money.....we couldn't get out message out....our people didn't know how to use a punch card....our people couldn't find the polling place.....the dog ate our speeches..."

More predicatable mind-pablum from the "I blame Bush for everything" crowd... I love it the way the Democrats instinctively take to the low road. It suits them, and it just seems to be counterproductive to their efforts, as the LA Slimes found out yesterday.

I saw McAuliffe spouting the same line last night. Only in the Dems parallel universe would the booting of a Democrat governor and his replacement by a Republican (even a nominal one) be seen as a bad sign for a Republican president.

Yep, those mean nasty tax cuts that put more cash in everyone's pockets are just ruining the economy.

Democrats on the national level ran us into a recession that Bush inherited and which was then compounded by the destruction of the Trade center - impacting our stock market as squarely as could be done. They made the noose and tied it for themselves and now wish to pretend it's someone's fault other than their own. Gray is an example of how fed up people are with the Dems and their policies.
They'd better warm up to that and get a clue. They are being booted out of office one after another.

CONCLUSIONS CAN BE DRAWN FROM THE CALIFORNIA RECALL ELECTION:

1) The Democrat Party has been steadily imploding. The withering on the vine of the Democrat Party can be traced to the Congressional elections of 1994 - no wonder that hated Newt Gingrich.

2) Republicans got about 3 out of every 5 votes in a very liberal California and the tax and spend Democrat Davis was booted from office by a massive turnout of voters.

3) Take a look at the Democrat Presidential candidates, could there be a weaker field? I don't think so.

4) HOPEFULLY the GOP Senate will see this obvious trend and get tough on the foolish Democrats and their silly obstructionist tactics. Republicans should now be emboldened and they should govern like conservative Republicans.

5) President Bush is doing a fine job, he'll handily win re-election, he can be comfortable in pushing his conservative programs and he should definately fight hard to put conservative judges on the Supreme Court to fill any upcoming vacancies.

6) The Klintoons have been horrible for the Dem Party on a national basis. The Dems can't seem to recognize this and throw McCauliffe out of the DNC and shun both Bill and Hillary. The Clintoons will continue to drag the Dems down :)

They are hoping all voters are as dumb as those that believe statements like, "I remember all the black churches burning in my home town when I was a boy" and "There is no controlling legal authority". No matter how laughable or outlandish statements like these are to a thinking person, democrats believe there is a sucker born every minute that will buy their snake oil.

Why doesn't the dishonorable Governor Howard Dean have a look at the CA Recall exit polls?

President Bush wasn't exactly 'popular', but he didn't have the big drag that Davis had. 71% disapproved of Davis' job, while 27% approved. President Bush, meanwhile had a 49% approval and a 48% disapproval. That's a big difference, folks. A politician with approval/disapprovals like this would very likely not have been recalled.

This was about Gray Davis, after all. And, until the Demos figure out that they're on the losing end of things, more things like this will transpire.

From DU:

Discussions about the California Recall Election (Oct 04th 2003)
Democratic Underground does not exist to to provide a platform for our political opponents or their supporters, especially this close to an election. If our members want to listen to Republican spin, they can turn on the television. But they don't expect to see it on this message board.

If you support this ridiculous power-grab against the democratically elected Governor of California, then you should do all of us a favor and keep that particular opinion to yourself.

Even if you swear that you're going to vote against the recall, we still have no interest in hearing how you "admire" our opponents or how you feel "ashamed" about attacks against them.

The moderators have the authority to keep DU free from right-wing spin this close to an election.
