I have just had a chance to read the story from the Yahoo link from Drudge on this story. This has really hit home. I have a daughter (well step-daughter that I consider my daughter) that has been in and out of drug rehab and is again in rehab.

Non of us are perfect. We all have skeletons in the closet. Today Rush admitted that he had problems. He is seeking help for these problems. He did not lie or try to accuse others for his weakness. He did not lie! He took full resposibility for actions and prolem. There was no "I did not have sex with that woman."

What we are seeing here is the difference between the liberals and the conservatives. One will take responsibility for their shortcomings and the other will not!

Please forgive the rant. This really hit home..

Purdue Pharma LP of Stamford, CT, the maker Oxycontin, announced today it has signed talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh to do a series of TV and radio commercials for the popular prescription pain killer.

NewsDay reports today that Mr. Limbaugh may have purchased OxyContin and two other medications without a prescription from a former housekeeper.

"Many people have asked me how I was able to do a successful daily three hour show while loaded up on pain meds," Mr. Limbaugh said. "I'm going to love telling them about the low incidence of side-effects I enjoy while gulping dozens of OxyContin each morning. When I say I do this show with half my brain tied behind my back, I'm not kidding."

A Purdue Pharma spokesman said, "We're excited to have America's number one talk host on board. We have heard that he loves the product, and can't get enough of it. His sincerity about his own use of OxyContin will inspire others to ask their doctors or housekeepers to get some for them too."

Purdue Pharma hopes Mr. Limbaugh's image and influence will help his 20 million listeners to think of OxyContin as something more than its street name -- "hillbilly heroin".

No offense good buddies ( A little Maynard G. Krebs lingo), but I have been on both sides of addiction issues, and it’s very complicated. It is one thing to get high for kicks, and another to have excruciating pain from a medical condition.

Pain medication for a medical condition can allow you to lead an almost normal life, but you have to manage it, and monitor it, or you will get hooked.

First, obviously, I will be praying for RUSH and his family. I read the thread earlier this week headed by "Rush is my Friend".. I agree with most of the sentiments there.

While I have had my disagreements- as has anyone with any independent thought- with RUSH- over the years- RUSH is unquestionable the epicenter of CONSERVATIVE THOUGHT over the past 15 years.

He is an original. Smart. Funny and too clever for his opponents. They never stood a chance.

And that is why they will try to rip him to shreds over the next coming days, weeks and months.. The liberalestablishmentmediademocrates will work overtime to paint all conservatives as "hypocrites" and paint RUSH as a "Holier than thou" figure. We know better.

We all... all of us who are not the "mind numbed robots" that Rush has correctly pointed out that the liberalestablishmentmediademocrats think we are- but aren't-- need to continue making the points, and fighting the fight we continue to fight.

Because the bottom line is that RUSH simply VALIDATED and gave a home to MOST of our opinions and made MOST of us realize that we are not alone in our Conservative views and actions.

Rush will be back. And as Ann Coulter said brilliantly and funny as usual tonight- just wait until Rush is out of Detox and is clean.. boy will he give them Hell then. Let's hold the fort until then and pray for him in the meantime. We know that it matters.

Rush has asked for our prayers, and he most certainly has mine. This is an important event in his career and his life.

I pray that, with God's blessings upon him. Rush will be able to gain the upper hand on his addictions and come back stronger than ever before.

I am not alone in this desire, and God will no doubt take note of the prayers of millions of his fans.

Meanwhile, may the curses of his thousands of leftist enemies fall back upon them sevenfold.

While I feel sorry for him and hope he has a quick recovery, I hope this will be a lesson for him on drug addiction. Drug users who are hopelessly addicted need help, not prison sentences.

No matter how we paint it...spin it...this is a major hit. The ratz are dancing in the streets. Yes, there are several tacks to take...medical use...unbearable pain...etcetera. The problem is it isn't the use of the drug...it's Rush's response that will give validity to the housekeeper's claims that he threatened her... wanted her husband, an admitted or convicted drug dealer I believe, to help procure more than his allotment.

My prayers are with Rush and if anyone can fall into this cesspool and come out smelling like a rose it's him, BUT at the street level this creates LOADS of serious problems for people like me who argue the conservative cause.

My only comment at the momment is "Yup. Rush had been falling to the dark side of the left for years. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised to find he's been having illicit sex in a closet off the EIB air studio. If he has, he should become the darling of the ratz."

One of the reasons I work for the cause where I do - local watering holes and such - is because I have too much baggage to run for office. Not drugs nor booze nor things like that but mostly financial problems I've never been able to resolve. I finally decided to just put it all behind me and do what I could for folks I believe held views similar to mine. Lately that's becoming a difficult proposition, and the Rush problem isn't gonna help. <prisoner6
