On top of it all, I guess it will become a UNESCO heritage site.

"In the end it is hoped that the Christian will become a better Christian and each Hindu a better Hindu."

Yes, this is exactly what Jesus wants, good Hindus. That is why He commanded His Apostles: "Go out into all nations and teach them all things whatsover I have taught you. And baptize them in the name of the father, son, and holy ghost". Through some mysterious means, by a power that only God can fully comprehend, what Jesus really meant was that true baptism into His Church means loving our neighbors and inviting them to worship their gods in Catholic Shrines. In a very real sense, we as God's own children can teach our pagan neighbors the Word by holding hands with them and sharing our bread with them on a common ground.

How am I doing so far? I'm writing this little speech for Cardianl Arinze and his Inter-faith Council so he can explain this event to Catholics all over the world.

I am not an RC but to me this appears to be one more indication of the determination of Euro elites to liquidate Judeo-Christian culture and replace it with some sort of pantheistic pseudo-religion to go with their sycratic pseudo-culture.

Admittedly this reads like some parody right out of Waugh at his darkest but it is all to real. The people propagating this are the same ones who think Israel is a meance to world peace and are all for 'global governance' and a 'universal court', they also pretty much loath the US and their actions before and after the late unpleasntness in Iraq are part and parcel of their shallow materialistic world view. Unfortunately trying to whip up some fake pseudo religion to satisfay the third world hordes that they increasingly rely on to do the heavy lifting in their societies is an execise in whistling past the graveyard-the graveyard of western culture.

**"The religion of the future will be a general converging of religions in a universal Christ that will satisfy all", he said.***

This has ONE WORLD ORDER written all over it! This is maddening, I have not heard anything about this. Truly Our Blessed Mother is weeping. Wonder what Sister Lucia would think?

Wonder what Sister Lucia would think

Not that anyone would be allowed to ask her!

I am not a Roman Catholic and am amazed that religious "leaders" seem to stay awake nights thinking up such mischief as this.

Do Hindus or the members of any other non-Catholic denomination really care about having a stake in the shrine of Fatima?

That said, does Monsignor Luciano Guerra have any regard for the members of the Roman Catholic Church around the world who already are suffering from the assaults on the Church which of late have been coming from every direction?

Such divisive innovations as this serve noone and in fact do harm to the Roman Catholic faithful.

Why is such tolerated and allowed by the Holy See?

Prayers for the faithful of all denominations and all others of good will who are enduring the buffettings of Satan as foretold in the Scriptures.

We indeed are in the Last Days prior to the glorious return of Jesus Christ and the beginning of His millenial reign....

I am not opposed to say, Hindus, visiting Catholic shrines.

Naturally, we would be thrilled to have all the Hindus and Muslims in the world come and visit the shrine of Our Lady of Fatima. But when the shrine to Our Lady becomes Hindu and Muslim, what can one say? Maybe we could each undertake an act in reparation.

Fatima prayer taught to the children to say every time they have some sort of suffering to offer up:

"Oh my Jesus, I offer this for the love of thee, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for all the wrongs done to the immaculate heart of Mary."

I was too sickened to even read this far. Wow! Talk about the synthesis of all heresies, Pope St. Pius X hadn't seen anything yet.

I thought that Teilhard de Chardin was dead and buried, but apparently there are those who want to resurrect him.

"In the end it is hoped that the Christian will become a better Christian and each Hindu a better Hindu."

This is almost, word for word, what Mother Teresa said.

What good will being a 'better Hindu' avail a soul? A better Hindu is a more devout Hindu, a Hindu more firm in his beliefs; and hence, a Hindu that is just that much harder to convert to Christ. Mother Teresa is reviled by many Hindus today because she allegedly tried to convert her sick and dying patients to the Catholic Church.

I'd like proof of that. From everything she said, she did not proselytize, as she would have had no credibility with Hindus.

In fact, I don't recall her ever indicating that she was engaged in actively converting Hindus.

Just a SWAG, but a few years from now, the muslims will want to kick all other religions out of the shrine and call it their own.

The further promotion of false ecumenism using a glorified charity worker of questionable religious pedigree.

In your world, saints have to wear gold mitres and thunder anathemas.

Get out more. You'll meet saints in all shapes and sizes.

Traditional Catholics opposed to the Congress were described by the Monsignor as "old fashioned, narrow minded, fanatic extremists and provocateurs."

Monsignor is just so charitable. </sarcasm> What ever happened to the command to love one's neighbor? A traditional priest once said to me that many Catholics are far kinder to Hindus, Protestants, Muslims, etc. than they are to traditional Catholics.

This is truly appalling, and don't let the frequently rather offensive Mr. Sinkspur distract us from the real problem here, which has nothing to do with what Mother Teresa may or may not have thought.

I don't know if any of you here have ever seen the inside of Unitarian Universalist church - I attended a concert in of their "churches," however, and there on the wall I saw a bizarre symbol that appears to be all of the symbols of the major religions sort of circling around together. I assume that's next at Fatima.

What's so wrong with proslelytizing? So long as no one is coerced, it simply a matter of freedom of speech for someone to try and persuade someone else to join his or her religion. And Christ specifically told us to tell the Good News to all nations.
