Me too,, but, unlike Humans, I don't think GOD is trite full and his love, and mercy is not Flimsy.
I learn a really valuable lesson on the night my dad died of a heart attack in were GOD actually spoke to me in his voice in my car on my way home from work.
I was angry at GOD, yelling at GOD, cussing at GOD, and all GOD said to me ? was.... " ______ < ( My name )... I understand ".
I learned personally by the hand of GOD, how much he really loves us, how much he UNDERSTANDS us, HIS MERCY, HIS COMPASSION that night in my car.
I don't care if people don't believe me that I actually heard GOD's voice in my car, I KNOW IT WAS GOD.
What GOD said to me was the " FARTHEST " thing from my mind and emotions that time in my car.

If Christ has already paid the price for our salvation, can the gift be returned, refused, negated in any way? Scripture tells me no; the price has been paid in full, the gift has been given, Christ's sacrifice is final and effective for all that He intends to accomplish.

If you're saying that obedience is of no effect then how do you interpret these verses?

Act 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

Heb 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
Heb 5:9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

1Pe 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

2Th 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

Gal 5:7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?

Rom 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Rom 2:8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,

1Pe 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied

Just to note that you can have all the faith one would want, but if it is in a false god there is still no salvation . That is an important point in your conversation

One can not obey what he does not hear or understand. The gospel is foolishness to those that are perishing. They can not hear it so that they can obey it

The world is full of people that think if they keep the rules they will get to heaven ..

So Doug when you come face to face with peter at the gate, and he asks why He should let you in ... what will you say?

Do you agree that the scripture below is saying that if we obey God he will give us his Holy Spirit?

Act 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

Mar 16:16
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Notice that Jesus does not say he THAT IS NOT BAPTIZED shall be damned....he said that what damns a man is not believing !

Here is the scripture on believing ...

Mar 1:15
And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Luk 8:12
Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

Jhn 1:12
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name:

Jhn 1:13
Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Jhn 3:15
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

Jhn 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Jhn 3:18
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Jhn 3:36
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Jhn 5:24
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Jhn 6:29
Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

Jhn 6:35
And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

Jhn 6:40
And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Jhn 7:37
In the last day, that great [day] of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

Jhn 7:38
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Jhn 11:25
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

Jhn 11:26
And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

Jhn 12:46
I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

Jhn 20:31
But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Act 10:43
To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

Act 13:39
And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

Act 16:30
And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

Act 16:31
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

Act 16:32
And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.

Rom 3:6
God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world?

Rom 4:24
But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

Rom 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Hbr 10:38
Now the just shall live by faith: but if [any man] draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

Hbr 10:39
But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

1Pe 1:21
Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

1Pe 3:21
The like figure whereunto [even] baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

1Jo 5:10
He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

1Jo 5:11
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

1Jo 5:12
He that hath the Son hath life; [and] he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

1Jo 5:13
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

is

Mat 28:19
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Act 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Act 2:41
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added [unto them] about three thousand souls.

Act 8:36
And as they went on [their] way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, [here is] water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

Act 8:37
And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Act 8:38
And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

Act 8:39
And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

Act 22:16
And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Rom 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Rom 10:10
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Rom 10:11
For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Rom 10:12
For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

Rom 10:13
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Rom 10:14
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

We do not believe in superstitions or magic water ... The water of baptism is an outward sign of an inward change

It follows the work of the Holy Spirit on the heart of men .

Men come to baptism BECAUSE OF FAITH not to get it

What will you tell to Peter at the gates of heaven?

Doug why should you be allowed into heaven? What will you say?

In order to obey God, that is to repent and believe one must have their eyes opened and have a new heart .. then a man hears the gospel and comes to repent and believe in obedience to the gospel .. One can not obey an order he does not have ears to hear

So Doug what will you say ?

"Do you agree that the scripture below is saying that if we obey God he will give us his Holy Spirit? Act 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him. "

Joh 3:36 "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

John equates believing to obeying. Obedience in scripture isn't about following laws or commandments. It is about believing in the Lord Jesus. All our good works come from Him.

I would agree that all good works come from Him and that obedience is an integral part of believing. That particular verse can certainly be translated that way. The King James has it:

Joh 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

The words "believeth not" is:

apeitheo
ap-i-theh'-o
From G545; to disbelieve (wilfully and perversely): - not believe, disobedient, obey not, unbelieving.

But that's not the same word as in Acts:

Act 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

Obey here is:

peitharcheo
pi-tharkh-eh'-o
From a compound of G3982 and G757; to be persuaded by a ruler, that is, (generally) to submit to authority; by analogy to conform to advice: - hearken, obey (magistrates).

If belief and obedience are always one and the same why didn't the author just use "believe" here?
