Dear servantboy777,

"Thanx, I respect and honor your faithfulness."

You're welcome, and thank you.

"I do feel that what is missing in this theology is grace."

I don't. For Catholics, grace actually sanctifies, actually causes the person to become increasingly like Christ. If that is the case, one cannot maintain attachment to sin in the long run, especially attachment to serious sin like adultery.

The second marriage is intrinsically adulterous. To continue the second marriage (with the exception for living as brother and sister) is to continue in sin, to literally live in sin. How is that becoming more Christ-like?

"This sounds more like man's ability to retain the sin is greater than God's ability to forgive."

If you maintain the sinful relationship, that isn't repentance.

"Besides, one of my catholic friends sought an annulment for a marriage that did not involve adultery and it took close to 3 years for 'men' to decide the marriage never took place."

The power to bind and loose was given to the Apostles. Thus, for Catholics, it is within the power of the Church, through the bishops, the successors of the Apostles, to judge the sacramental character of a Christian marriage.

However, what was not given was a power to override the moral law. Thus, if it is found that a sacramental marriage occurred, the Church has no power to undo what God has joined.

"Sounds too man made."

Well, if you didn't feel that way, I suppose you'd be a Catholic.

;-)
