good morning all,
i was wondering why so many people take pride and joy bashing on movies? Isn't that what we used to do maybe in grade 3?
I could be a liar like Dan Brown and his brain-addled fans, and claim "it's only humor," but I will admit that I am pleased to see the movie discredited.
Just so you know, the author of the book went around to every talk show there was to proclaim that the background of the book was entirely factual. The background falsely accuses Christianity of being nothing more than a sick fantasy devised by sexually frustrated men as an excuse to slaughter tens of millions of innocent women.
You're condescending style aside, this web site is for serious discussion of conservative issues, and a little gleeful humor at liberals' expense. Your poorly informed and intellectual weak defense of Jihad, abortion, and drug use is not appreciated in these parts. If you want to construct well-reasoned challenges to conservative presumptions, that'd be one thing. Although even in that case, you'd probably be eventually told that the purpose of this web site is informing conservatives, not left vs. right debate. But I am quite certain that no-one comes here to read liberals engage in adolescent, passive-aggressive, name-calling.
I'll leave it up to the admin whether to zot you or not (especially since I don't have the power to zot anyone), but I will say that you do not serve yourself or your liberal causes well by simply coming around conservative web sites and acting the way you do.
Admin: This post, taken by itself, is, of course, quite harmless, and hardly the most offensive thing I've read this week on this site, but I suggest you may wish to review the sum total of this person's posts and decide whether banishment of education is the appropriate course of action.
I don't know if 'pride and joy' is correct.
Content aside, any good movie can be art. And it can affect you unlike other kinds of art.
A bad movie is garbage.
Almost all movies are productions of very large corporations so profit is always part of the equation. They are products to be consumed from the corporate perspective.
With a bad movie, the corporation stole your money. With a little thought, they might have made an adequate movie and given you value for your money.
Because some movies are really terrible. That's not bad in and of it self, but when the movie claims to be something that it's not, a thinking persons movie, or a "historical" thriller, and turns out to be an overly long pile of doo-doo it's going to get creamed.
Now myself I am a fan of the Horror genre, and if you are a fan of horror movies your going to watch a lot of crap. But that's OK, because generally horror movies aren't distributed under the pretense that they are anything other than low-budget, popcorn muching, lurid, cheesy, tougue in cheek fun. In short prentious movies with big name actors, that cost hundred of millions of dollars to make, better be damn good paticularly if they are going to go of their way to offend a large segment of the public.
Maybe you should consider that (a) this movie both "takes pride and joy" and hopes to turn a huge profit off of slandering the most deeply-held beliefs of 1.3 billion Christians and (b) falsely characterizes an orthodox organization of lay Catholics as a group of sado-masochistic, murderous nutcases.
