More than 800 wildfires started in a single day in California this past weekend, as the result of an 'unprecedented' lightning storm of a type called "dry lightning."

Unprecedented means that it has never occurred before. I remember back in the 70s watching an old educational film that looked like it was from the 1950s (zzzzz!) about forest fires. It talked about lightning strikes without rain in the west and the fire watch towers that were built to watch for the first signs of smoke and to triangulate the smoke's location.

This might be a worse than normal year, but it is hardly out of line for a state that has had two seasons, fire and mud, for as long as I can remember.

I remember that movie! We had to watch it almost every time recess got rained out. I seem to remember quote from the book of Joshua at the end of it?
