Barack Aborta....”lets kill the unborn and throw them in the trash, or, if we don’t succeed in killing them lets just throw them in the trash anyway.”

The Catholic church did not leave the Democratic Party - the majority of Democrats turned away from Christ.

Thank you for your post. The party that I belonged to for so many years left me. Thank heavens I finally saw the light!

I’m glad to hear Catholic leaders speaking out on abortion and same-sex marriage. The Church and all Christianity is under attack. The socialists, the anti-Americans, the depraved, the Islamic terrorists, and the dictators are all looking at each other as allies in the common cause of breaking America, liberty, and Christianity.

I was enjoying coffee this morning with some fellow catholics after mass and I was so surprised to learn that of the four of us, three believed that it was time to vote for a black person to the presidency. No issues, no track record, no philosophy, only BLACK.
I was totally tongue tied and couldn’t come back with anything other than some lame reasons.

Even abortion was pooh poohed and rationalized. Come on bishops, DO YOUR JOB! Let us put an end to cafeteria catholics!

Catholics seem to be unaware that the “Freedom of Choice Act” will remove conscience protections from institutions and individual medical personnel. I don’t know why nobody has pointed out that this will mean the end of the Catholic hospital system, as well as the persecution of individual doctors and nurses.

Obama is the most radically, aggressively pro-abortion politician we have ever had. He has promised that this will be the very first bill he signs. Clinton also signed a pro-abortion bill as his first act, picking January 23 as the perfect day to do it, but even that act didn’t go as far as this one.

"Can a Catholic vote, in good conscience, for a candidate who supports abortion?"

Republicans have been promising to do something about abortion for years, yet they did nothing. Democrats, on the other hand, have supported programs that empower women to choose to have their children. Republican programs push women into poverty and result in more abortions. Increasing the minimum wage reduces the number of abortions. The Republican economic policies, which have caused the Bush recession, will increase the number of abortions. The choice is between rhetoric and results.

In 2006, a CNN poll showed that Catholics voted for Democrats vs. Republican by a margin of 55% Democrat vs 44% Republican.

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2006/pages/results/states/US/H/00/epolls.0.html

VOTE BY RELIGION TOTAL Democrat Republican

Protestant (55%) 44% 54%
Catholic (26%) 55% 44%
Jewish (2%) 87% 12%
Other (6%) 71% 25%
None (11%) 74% 22%

Catholics remain the largest denominational group in Congress, with 155 members – 25 in the Senate and 130 in the House.

The Catholic hierarchy has been playing footsie with Democratic pols for years in a symbiotic relationship on all of the social issues save abortion/euthanasia/embryonic stem cell research.

Interesting ... people do have reasons for what they do. Several Russian Orthodox hierarchs were on the KGB payroll, if I recall my history correctly, and China has its domesticated/neutered "Three-Self" official churches ...

Thanks for the reminder... I’ll add this to the list of problems with Obama for my class.

For the record, our parish is extremely faithful, and based on the discussions we’ve had thus far on topics like moral theology, none of the members of my class are in danger of voting for Obama. But they may have friends, neighbors, co-workers and friends who are Catholic and thinking about voting for him.

Last night I saw the Archbishop sitting next to Qbama. Disgusting; just another photo op. Say what you may about Abp. Burke, when Sheryl Crow was scheduled for a charity fundraiser for Childrens’ Hospital he not only stayed away, but left the board. We need more priests like this, and much more so, bishops.

No issues, no track record, no philosophy, only BLACK.

Expect this rationale from many people. Frightening what drives people to the polls.

I never said the Church left the Democratic Party. On the contrary, I lamented the fact that too many of our leaders and rank-and-file have been in thrall over the Dems for far too long. The bishops are only just now finally waking up to the fact that they have been played like a fiddle, and they have been turned upon by those who were allies of convenience on some issues, and the tax exemption is the Democrats’ trump card. The bishops (and everyone else in the Church) need to see reality here and start speaking the truth in season and out of season, forgetting all transitory expediencies. At the rate we’re going, in 20 years or less, the Church will be driven underground, and won’t be in a position to hobnob with apostate politicians at all.

It was Obama sitting next to the Archbishop rather than the other way around.

Obama seemed somewhat uncomfortable and out of place in this particular setting of hearty congeniality. And it wasn’t because he is a person of color. His smiles seemed terribly forced at times.
