Obama Says A Baby Is A Punishment
Obama: If they make a mistake, I dont want them punished with a baby.
In a nutshell: “Thus, rather than having our thoughts elevated at Mass toward God and heaven, we can find that, when exposed to dance in church, our thoughts are instead made banal.”
The parishes where this is practiced (dancing) are usually where you will find many religious relativists as well.
I’m not a religious person. I’m not a Catholic nor any other variety of Christian. So perhaps I shouldn’t comment here. But that isn’t stopping me, I suppose.
Once in a blue moon, I’ll go to a Catholic mass, just because I enjoy the solemnity of it. I don’t have to explain to anybody who’s been to a Catholic mass the feeling one gets.
So to me, this kind of thing would cheapen the mass and bring it dangerously close to the kind of things I’ve seen at Protestant churches, where I’ve seen (really, really terrible) rock bands playing “modern Christian” music and the congregants making (IMO) fools of themselves. It’s completely stripped of the kind of dignity I see in Catholic Mass. I really hope this doesn’t happen.
Take me back to the old days and the solemn latin masses.
We attended a Tridentine Mass this a.m. at the Mission San Juan Capistrano. What an excellent & pleasant difference & experience!
Have to brush up on my Latin for next Sunday. BIG SMILE
No Salsa dancing in the pews.
Push the pews out of the way and thrash to the pipe organ!
Since you are in MD, may I suggest attending Mass at one of the Catholic Churches that celebrate the Latin Mass.
(There are Latin/English missals available at those churches that celebrate the Latin Mass)
Here is a link to locations in your state.

You don’t have to wait.

There are also Eastern Rite Catholic churches which still retain the solemnity and dignity of the old Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom. Byzantine Catholic churches should be fairly easy to find in that area.
I went to a Latin Mass earlier this year, in fact! Down in Baltimore on, IIRC, Fayette St.(?) I think the church was St. Alphonses. It was very impressive.
His Eminence is correct.
Dancing has no place at Holy Mass. Neither does hand-holding.
We’re called to holiness when we receive this sacarament.
These are outrages against the Holy Mass, perpetrated by those who want to water down the core beliefs to attract more people. The more faithful the church, the stronger it seems to be.
Dominus vobiscum!
A non Catholic view: I am an evangelical protestant and one of the churches I attend has dancers.
There is no applause and the dancers do not perform - it’s more like a celebration where everyone can sing and the dance is hebrew inspired with messianic type music and worship, not free form. The dancers are mostly older women so that there is no lasciviousness involved and none of them are professionals. They dance off to the side so they are not the focal point.
I never liked “performances” in service, to the place where I don’t even like choirs and soloists and such. I often am asked to sing solos myself, and like to place myself behind the piano where I can’t really be seen well so people can just let the lyrics and music lead them into worship. I like to sing scripture based music.
A mass is not a protestant service, we don’t view that transubstantiation occurs during it, and we have a totally different view of the church building and body of Christ. We don’t even have a functional altar. I don’t know why anyone would have dance during a mass.
I’ve been to several protestant churches where there is no music at all, as it is “worldly”.
Lastly I’ll say this. In the evangelical Christian view, a building is not holy and the church is the believers, not the building. We don’t come to be served, but rather, we call it a service because we come to serve God.
Oh yes. Me too.... :-(
