>>So that America can be awash in unwanted babies?<<

Holy crap! Have you looked into adopting lately?
This whole “unwanted baby” myth is crap.

What’s happening now is it’s huge money to adopt, then if you are lucky and rich you get a “baby” (not a three year old with issues) and the mother has six months to change her mind. Or the Dad that wasn’t in the picture at all.

This happened to a friend of mine who had a baby for five months, twenty days. Then the mom wanted her back so my friend was told to keep her through the weekend then take her to the airport and meet with a Social Worker. Nice.

I can’t tell you how many people I know that would LOVE to adopt a baby, including myself. Most are going overseas to bring home babies. Some with issues, some without. At 10,000 a pop.

Unwanted? Pish!

Should extramarital sex be illegal?

If you are a christian or Jew, then you would follow the Ten Commandments. "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife".

But there IS the possibility that there would be too many “unwanted” (meaning: given up for adoption rather than kept by biological) for the society to bear.

Not saying you can’t hope for lots of people with fertility problems (wooops - are they problems because they waited too long, and/or took too many chemicals to AVOID babies? Oo, conundrum) who would adopt 5 children, but there is the possibility many would ultimately be unadopted.

I say, bring back orphanages at least. And stop the nonsense about hoops for adoption.

“Holy crap! Have you looked into adopting lately?

Are there enough barren married couples in this nation to provide them with children once the Theocrats force laws upon us that govern what we do in the bedroom?

I am dead set against abortion but I do believe in contraception.

I don’t want the Theocrats deciding the course that my daughters’ lives will take anymore than I want the Demoncrats taking tax dollars out of my pocket to pay for abortions, here OR around the world.

But what is the fun in doing that, leading by example! Fie on that! Lets ban things and outlaw contraception, that is WAY more fun and the CONSERVATIVE limited government thing to do!!!/s

I heard a lovely woman once inadvertently say “Life begins at the moment of contraception.”

“Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife”

But what if it’s not your neighbor? What if they live down the street?

;o)

I am not barren and all but ONE woman that I know who adopted has other children. So that is not an issue.

Before you proclaim what is good or not good for your daughters, do a bit of research on the harm that artificial birth control does to their bodies. Ever wonder why you see all those Pretty Pink ribbons everywhere? They are just beginning to see the link between the pill and breast cancer.

Religion is the crutch you are using. With a medical background I would not recommend ABC to my daughters.

Yeah, at fourteen, when I saw my first Playboy, part of it was the pretty girls, but Hefner's real genius (there were a lot of skin mags before Playboy) was that he created a fantasy world. It drew me in, but also made me feel incredibly alienated. It was this world where you flew places at your leisure, always had feminine companionship, your home had a bar and a pool room, and opened onto the lake front where your boat was docked. Cool people came by and partied. At fourteen I could live there vicariously, but was too naive to realize it was a totally artificial construct. I just knew that world wasn't in Waco, Texas. At the parties here, people drank beer, not mixed drinks. There wasn't a jazz band. I never saw a Bunny in Playboy drunk, crying and throwing up, although I saw girls doing that at real parties a lot. Even though I got good at getting laid, it wasn't what I'd pictured from growing up reading Playboy.

Years later, I read a book titled Bunny: The Real History of Playboy. It wasn't a tear apart of Hefner, but when I read it, it was like, yeah, that figures. I had already realized by the age of twenty or so that Playboy was a pant load, but never really thought about the whole magazine or Hefner much until later when I ran up on the book.

Some things are evil and deserve to be banned. Contraception is among them. The issue is practicality.

There is nothing “evil” about contraception, nor is there any Constitutional provision under which the Federal Government would have the power to outlaw it.

The myth that contraception is good for society IS evil. That needs to be overcome. Read Mark Steyn’s “America Alone” You’ll see.

The government doesn’t have the power to do anything that is for the ‘public good’. There is no enumerated power under the Constitution whereby contraception could be outlawed.

Neither is such a ban on contraception compatible with the notion of a limited government that recognizes the natural rights of man.

There is nothing in the Constitution that prohibits states or localities from outlawing it, save for the bogus "right to privacy" that is the same thing Roe v. Wade cited as its basis.

Neither is such a ban on contraception compatible with the notion of a limited government that recognizes the natural rights of man.

The "natural right" to sex without responsibility? Doesn't exist.

The evil is described in the article. If you disagree with the article, feel free to rebut the points made in it.

Regarding a federal ban, I am indeed not sure, but no one said is has to be federal legislation. At the same time, we have various laws banning ownership of recreational drugs, certian weapons, child pornography and probalby some other laws like that that do not come immediatley to mind.

Prior to Griswald vs. Connecticut, we had state laws against contraception. There si no reason to thing that some state laws could be passed again, either if a conservative court overturns Griswald, or if the legislation works around it.

If you look back at my posts, I said a ban would be impossible but changing the hearts and minds of Americans would be the way to go.

1How doth the city sit solitary that was full of people! How she has become as a widow! She that was great among the nations and princess among the provinces, how she has become tributary!

2She weepeth sorely in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks; among all her lovers she hath none to comfort her. All her friends have dealt treacherously with her; they have become her enemies.

3Judah has gone into captivity because of affliction, and because of great servitude. She dwelleth among the heathen, she findeth no rest; all her persecutors overtook her in her straits.

4The highways of Zion do mourn, because none come to the solemn feasts; all her gates are desolate. Her priests sigh, her virgins are afflicted, and she is in bitterness.

5Her adversaries are the master, her enemies prosper; for the LORD hath afflicted her. For the multitude of her transgressions, her children have gone into captivity before the enemy.

6And from the daughter of Zion, all her beauty is departed; her princes have become like harts that find no pasture, and they have gone without strength before the pursuer.

7Jerusalem remembered in the days of her affliction and of her miseries all her pleasant things that she had in the days of old. When her people fell into the hand of the enemy and none did help her, the adversaries saw her, and mocked at her Sabbaths.

8Jerusalem hath grievously sinned; therefore she has become a wanderer. All that honored her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness; yea, she sigheth, and turneth backward.

9Her filthiness is in her skirts; she remembereth not her last end. Therefore she came down wondrously; she had no comforter. “O LORD, behold my affliction, for the enemy hath magnified himself!”

10The adversary hath spread out his hand upon all her pleasant things; for she hath seen that the heathen entered into her sanctuary, whom Thou didst command that they should not enter into Thy congregation.

11All her people sigh, they seek bread; they have given their pleasant things for meat to relieve the soul. “See, O LORD, and consider, for I have become vile.”

12”Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? Behold and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is done unto me, wherewith the LORD hath afflicted me in the day of His fierce anger.

13From above hath He sent fire into my bones, and it prevaileth against them. He hath spread a net for my feet, He hath turned me back; He hath made me desolate and faint all the day.

14The yoke of my transgressions is bound up by His hand; they are wreathed, and come up upon my neck. He hath made my strength to fall; the Lord hath delivered me into their hands, from whom I am not able to rise up.

15The Lord hath trodden under foot all my mighty men in the midst of me; He hath called an assembly against me to crush my young men; the Lord hath trodden the virgin, the daughter of Judah, as in a wine press.

16For these things I weep; mine eye, mine eye runneth down with water, because the Comforter that should relieve my soul is far from me. My children are desolate, because the enemy prevailed.”

17Zion spreadeth forth her hands, and there is none to comfort her. The LORD hath commanded concerning Jacob, that his adversaries should be round about him; Jerusalem is as a menstruous woman among them.

18”The LORD is righteous, for I have rebelled against His commandment. Hear, I pray you, all people, and behold my sorrow; my virgins and my young men are gone into captivity.

19I called for my lovers, but they deceived me; my priests and mine elders gave up the ghost in the city, while they sought their meat to relieve their souls.

20”Behold, O LORD, for I am in distress; my bowels are troubled. Mine heart is turned within me, for I have grievously rebelled. Abroad the sword bereaveth; at home there is as death.

21They have heard that I sigh; there is none to comfort me. All mine enemies have heard of my trouble; they are glad that Thou hast done it! Thou wilt bring the day that Thou hast proclaimed, and they shall then be like unto me.

22Let all their wickedness come before Thee, and do unto them as Thou hast done unto me for all my transgressions; for my sighs are many, and my heart is faint.”

Excellent remark. QOTD material. I hope you don't mind if I borrow it?

I thought of one today - "Anything the government touches turns to satan."

If we had states rights again, where some states were for the conservatives, and some states were for the liberals, instead of this homogenized mayonnaise that we have now, then we could congregate in states that supported our beliefs, and live the way we wanted. As it stands now, there aren’t really any sovereign states, and the almighty fed controls all.
