New billboards target 'unworthy' Mormons

NAMPA - Becki Detro said she was married to the church for 28 years of her life. Constant feelings of unworthiness caused her to leave her faith.

"It was very hard," she said. "It's a hard thing when your whole family..." she couldn't continue and was visibly emotional.

She's now joining an effort to help other followers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who want to leave the church, but still have a place to worship.

"I see a concern that LDS people are leaving because they are not receiving the healing balm of His forgiveness," she said.

She connected with Pastor Mark Cares. He founded the Truth in Love Ministry in 2005 with a mission to bring people from the Mormon faith to his church.

"Over the years we have ministered to people who have felt stressed over Mormanism," he said. "We are just trying to reach out to those people."

And his ministry is reaching out with five new billboard advertisements. Ads that read: "feeling Worthy?" and display a support website, http://www.hishealingnow.com/

The website features stories from Detro and others who've made the switch. It's tone is blunt with links reading, "healed from shame," and "I was washing clean."

"it's not to bash Mormons but to point out those differences and then to talk about the ramifications of those differences," he said. "We have a sense of urgency that the people in Mormonism will be lost and that's a hard message to send."

The tone and tactic of the awareness campaign disturb some.

"I think he's really reaching trying to figure something out and trying to take advantage of a couple situations," said Wayne Petersen, a bishop in the Mormon faith for six years.

He says the standards are high for a reason and that there is support within the church.

"We don't apologize for the standards we set because they are true principals that stand for a good quality of life," he said.

But that quality of life wasn't very high for Detro who says those standards ostracize many and make some feel bad about themselves.

"I went to church and heard the message of free and full forgiveness," she said.

Regardless how people feel about various religions, Petersen says this method is unbecoming.

"I feel sorry he has to take this approach," he said. "I guess he's just trying to build his own flock and I wish him good luck."

This meeting provides an opportunity for those who cannot enter a temple to feel included in the marriage and to learn something of the eternal nature of the marriage covenant.

LIES!!!

Romans Chapter One

1. Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?
2. For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to [her] husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of [her] husband.

Nuttin' eternal here!

My Mothers words:

"Well you know, he just couldn't live the "Word of Wisdom" and I think someone has offended him in some way because I know he has a testimony."

Due to the restricted nature of the international rice market (less than 6% of global production) and to the residual character of exchanges (producing countries produce first and foremost for their own consumption), international prices are extremely volatile.

International market is not influenced by referential prices, or by "Chicago Board of Trade" (CBOT) futures quotations - which have no liquidity. There are few regular publications that indicate current price levels.

It is still possible to have an idea of the long-term evolution of rice prices by observing the market of Thai White Rice, 5% Broken. In fact, this type of rice was chosen as a reference for a futures market in Bangkok.

It should be noted that there is a weak correlation between the high-quality low-quality rice markets. They often move in the same direction, however low-quality rice prices tend to fall more. The intensity of price fluctuations depends on specific demands for each type of rice.

In many countries, the only available prices are domestic ones which indicate the prices that buyers are willing to pay growers.

In the case of export prices, the correlation between the different origins is relatively high for those countries that do not interfere or regulate prices.

You can thank me later.

Thank you CC for sharing that. I well know how living life trying to please others is such a desperate trap. I too was found by the Christ who is a merciful savior.

A friend of mine tells this parable about marriage and salvation:

For me, I am of the opinion that the lds bishops are not in any way qualified to comment on the efforts being undertaken on behalf of those leaving the lds religion.

Lds bishops are not formally trained in any spiritual matters. They’re all laymen who essentially get “promoted” to the position of bishop for being good mormons. My experiences when having discussions with them in the past is that they will usually make the standard refrain; “pray for guidance”. My wife usually comes out of a meeting with her bishop visibly frustrated. I try to explain this conflict to her, but she’s still holding on to it.

They have little to no expertise to offer troubled souls.

I used to think it was pretty cool that they weren’t paid to perform their tasks, but the flip side is that they have no formal training. No methods to counsel troubled members. They do have a checklist that determines whether or not a member needs to go before a court for transgressions/sins.

I hope this and similar efforts are successful.

Yep. Ask any other church or ministry, independent or denomination, and they will open their books or give an accounting. The LDS? Not a chance!

I like that. And worth a repost. Some food for thought Resty.

There once was a woman married to a man who told her he would love her only if she kept the rules of his house perfectly. He wrote out the ten rules and gave them to her to help her remember. She wanted her husband’s love so much that she struggled from dawn till dark every day to perfectly obey his rules. But no matter how hard she worked, she was never good enough. She begged him for his love, but she did not receive it.

After many years of heartache, her husband died and she married again. This husband gave her all the love she had ever desired and then some. She was so happy that her struggle to please simply faded away. One day she discovered her first husband’s rules, tucked away in a book. As she read the ten rules over again, to her delight and amazement she realized that she was keeping every one of them perfectly. Her new husband’s love had made her able.

Probably stirs up cognative dissonance within her. Bring her support to what might be troubling her from Jesus' saying in the bible. Continued in my prayers.
