Man - I hope and pray that you have fireproof underwear! FR is home to some of the most rabid Catholic defenders I have ever encountered.

But there is so much truth in that post. Too bad it will fall on mostly deaf (to the truth) ears.

Praying for those who truly desire to know God, but have been programmed in a way that prevents them from having a personal, growing, and fruitful relationship with our Savior Jesus Christ.

“...the Catholic Church maintains that “the Bible is a dead letter and unable to interpret itself.”

Could you please share your SOURCE for such a statement?

Amen

I’m married to a Catholic and yes fireproof underwear would be quite helpful at times. :-O

I really want to love all God’s people and to respect and love those of other faiths but why do you post something like this?

If people wish to leave the Catholic church and join another faith that is a personal decision and I respect that.

But, I seriously doubt that whoever wrote this was ever a practicing Catholic. Almost everything he says about being a Catholic is wrong and in some cases deliberately dishonest and insulting.

Please, let us love each other like our Savior taught.

I’ll join you in that prayer. It is sad to see someone proclaim what is so negative (and obviously full of error) rather than the positive faith that God has granted.

May our Lord, Jesus, grant this person and the author of the article the healing that is needed.

Catholics Disregard The Word Of God

Your author starts off with a blatant falsehood so obvious that even the most casual observer could identify it as such.

Your author is a liar.

I am always puzzled that so many Roman Catholics can visit the vatican, to see the elaborate display of embarassing wealth, then to see the hundreds of homeless, helpless beggars outside the wall... and come away with joy.

I don’t mean to pick on RC’s - I certainly share many values with them and greatly admire their tireless war for the lives of the unborn.

“Enter ye in at the straight gate: for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction and many there be which go in thereat. Because straight is the gate and narrow is the way that leadeth to destruction and FEW THERE BE THAT FIND IT.” (Matt 7:13-14)

“For by grace are ye saved, through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2: 8-9)

Omigosh. An organization that is made up of human beings has flaws! Whodathunk? Well, I’m sure you’ll find that perfect church somewhere. /s

Karl Marx and Judas Iscariot spoke similarly.

Further the Catholic Church asserts, "We do not in anywise presuppose that the books of the New Testament are inspired, but, rather, they are only genuine, authentic documents written by honest men."

Here's where I stopped reading and scrolled down to check his footnotes. Surprise surprise he doesn't have any.

I became non-denominational because the Catholic Church puts too much "power" in its priests.

The Bible does not require the assistance of a mortal man to attain Heaven, nor does it require the "holy rites".

The Catholic Church has members call it's priests "father", yet the Jesus clearly states "Call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven" (Matt. 23:9).

Like all religions, the Word of God is "manipulated" to enhance the stature of the priests.

Heck, these days the Pope is even getting into "going green" to save the planet. Surely the Pope must realize that Man cannot destroy the planet, unless it is God's Will - God has spoken about how the end/beginning will occur and He also let us know that Satan has free run on earth until the cesspool that is created will be cleaned up by the return of the Savior.

That said, the Catholic Church has probably brought more men to Jesus than any other, but like the others, it too is man-derived and therefore flawed.
