Mormon church gives first lady volume of family history

WASHINGTON -- For the second time in less than a year, Mormon church leaders have met with a President Barack Obama family member in the White House to present a volume of history.

First lady Michelle Obama was presented with a volume of her family history Wednesday morning by Elder Dallin H. Oaks of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Also participating was Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev.

In July, Mormon church President Thomas S. Monson joined Elder Oaks and Reid in presenting the U.S. president with his family history.

"Last year, the church compiled several volumes for President Barack Obama," Reid said. "This year, I thank Elder Oaks for sharing our faith's tradition of genealogical research with the first lady and her family.

"This documentation of their lineage will be cherished and passed on for future generations," he said. "I am honored that the church can play a part in documenting the history of the first family."

My pleasure. No problem at all. This train wreck is something I believe shouldn't go unnoticed.

What I do care about is freedom of religion. Freedom from bigotry.

cite for me one instance when it was advocated that mormons be prohibited from worshiping as they wish - just one

Do you favor people going door to door trying to sway them to their faith - is that bigotry in your book?

Do not make this thread "about" individual Freepers. That is also a form of "making it personal."

This is a Religion Forum after all - and your posts should have a theological context, i.e. not be a campaign to disparage individual Freepers.

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

Don't worry - if we're wrong a MORMON will find out your name and be baptized for you.

As if I’m supposed to give a flying monkey what any of them think.

It must be good to be part of a protected class on FR that can violate clear rules of engagement in the RF and not have to worry about the RM or an equally legitimate response to their making it personal.

Aw...

Who cares?

We have the FREEDOM to continue to post MORMON contradicitions all the time - their school yard taunts are mere background noise that adds to the experience.

Hebrews 12:4

When I get to THIS point; then perhaps I'll have to start thinking about it!

I like Elsie's comment about schoolyard taunts...I would add that they come from teachers' pets.

In any case, I wish everyone would quit feeding the trolls.

........that’s the closest the mormons will ever get to the White House. Think of the paper to print the history of Joe. Poor trees.
