For the record, I am not an anti-Catholic bigot. Every Christian family has its skeletons in the closet, its lunatic aunt raving and mumbling in the basement. I know wonderful Catholic Christians who cultivate a little Marian devotion on the side. And I know Protestant Christians who actually support the cult of Caesar by rendering unto Caesar that which is God's -- the hearts, minds, and souls of their children. On some of the major issues of the day (the religious nature of all education, the religious nature of abortion on demand) the Catholics got things right long before the Protestants did.

I am sure there are inconsistencies in my life, invisible to me, and pray that my dear brothers and sisters will be gracious regarding these.

Still, as much as I respect the Catholic side of God's family, for me, the cult of the BVM is the deal-breaker.

Then Catholics should have no problem with Christians testing it for themselves, as the Bereans did the words of Paul.

I have studied Fatima, though it has been a while. My study of it wasn’t the point. Nor did I tell anyone what to think about it - nevertheless, here come the Mary police ready to pounce on anyone who merely makes any sort of comment on one of their subjects - no matter how benign.

If Fatima passes the biblical test, as you all suggest it does, there should be no problem.

You know of course that the neanderthals made their last stand in what is now Portugal. Remains have been found there that are the most recent of all Neanderthal remains.

Coincidence or part of a plan?

Mysterious.

I won’t call ya crazy, but I’m just naturally averse to causing a ruckus. ;’)

Have you even read what she wrote regarding the messages?

So, you think the devil can tell people to return to God and to pray, believe in Jesus, and repent of sin? If you had really studied apparitions of the Blessed Virgin and what she says, you would know that is her message. There is no way the devil can say those things, so your assertion that Marian devotion is demonic is really stupid.

So, you think the devil can tell people to return to God and to pray, believe in Jesus, and repent of sin?

Yep. As long as the "Jesus" she proclaims is a strange kind of neutered cosmic momma's boy, rather than the majestic and reigning "Lamb slain from the foundation of the world." United Pentecostals have a Jesus they advocate, along along with exhortations to pray and repent. Muslims speak well of Jesus and are passionate about prayer and repentance. JWs have kind things to say about Jesus, and are big on prayer and repentance.

Finally, the closest parallel to the cult of the BVM, Mormonism, honors its Jesus and preaches prayer and repentance. Mormons have spiritual experiences, a "burning in the bosom," and testify to answered prayers. They have real encounters with a real self-aware spiritual entity -- a deity that is other than the God of the Bible.

Facts matter. Satan gladly appears as a god, or goddess, in order to bind souls to himself. Lovers of God and His truth do not settle for second-rate substitutes, imitations, and alternative spiritual universes.
