Can’t agree with you that “faith trumps politics.”. Obama claims Christianity, as does Bill Clinton, but I could not vote for either guy over a conservative mormon or atheist.
Does he? It's quit possible that I missed it, but I have never heard Obama say that he is a Christian. He did attend a United Church of Christ for years, but ...
The Congregationalist Church, which merged into the UCC, stopped requiring that its members be Christians in colonial times.
Food for thought ... I understand that Obama's early school records, in Indonesian, record his religion as Muslim. IF this is true, and IF he is now a Christian, does Sharia law not require that he be sanctioned - with extreme prejudice?
As to voting, I do not consider Christianity to be a sufficient reason to vote for a candidate. Nor do I feel compelled to choose between candidates which, for various reasons, are both (or all) unacceptable. Lacking a "none of the above" option, I often simply leave part of the ballot blank. I abstain.
More food for thought ... Would you vote for a Thuggee running on a conservative platform? Would you vote for a follower of Anton LaVey running on a conservative platform? If not, where would you draw the line?
