Benevolence & best intentions aside, it is not you who gets to dictate Mormon beliefs, any more than who I define as my brother in Christ.

Ah, but Joey called it approved polygamy so Emma would keep her mouth shut.
THE
DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS
OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
SECTION 132
Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Nauvoo, Illinois, recorded July 12, 1843
5157, Emma Smith is counseled to be faithful and true;
51 Verily, I say unto you: A commandment I give unto mine handmaid,
Emma Smith, your wife, whom I have given unto you, that she stay herself and partake not of that which I commanded you to offer unto her; for I did it, saith the Lord, to
aprove you all, as I did Abraham, and that I might require an offering at your hand, by covenant and sacrifice.
52 And let mine handmaid,
Emma Smith,
areceive all those that have been given unto my servant Joseph, and who are virtuous and pure before me; and those who are not pure, and have said they were pure, shall be destroyed, saith the Lord God.
53 For I am the Lord thy God, and ye shall obey my voice; and I give unto my servant Joseph that he shall be made ruler over many things; for he hath been
afaithful over a few things, and from henceforth I will strengthen him.
54 And I
command mine handmaid,
Emma Smith, to abide and
acleave unto my servant Joseph, and to none else. But if she will not abide this commandment she shall be
bdestroyed, saith the Lord; for I am the Lord thy God, and
will destroy her if she abide not in my law.
55 But
if she will not abide this commandment, then shall my servant Joseph do all things for her, even as he hath said; and
I will bless him and multiply him and give unto him an ahundredfold in this world, of fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters, houses and lands, wives and children, and crowns of
beternal lives in the eternal worlds.
56 And again, verily I say, let mine handmaid
aforgive my servant Joseph his trespasses; and then shall she be forgiven her trespasses, wherein she has trespassed against me; and I, the Lord thy God,
will bless her, and multiply her, and make her heart to
brejoice.

Laotzu - do you believe in the bible? The bible makes is clear that not everyone who names the name of Jesus is considered to be a Christian.
Gal 1:6 KJV - I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
Gal 1:7 KJV - Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
Gal 1:8 KJV - But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
Gal 1:9 KJV - As we said before, so say I now again, If any [man] preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
Mat 7:21 KJV - Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 7:22 KJV - Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Both passages tell us that there will be those who try to pass a false gospel off. So it goes deeper than your simple definition lao.
The true Jesus is the Second Person of the Trinity, God the Son. Only one true God in existance
The Jesus of mormonism is but one of a pantheon of gods and goddesses.
Your response will demonstrate your level of intellectual honesty on the point as well as your credability.

Isn't this more of an Alaska connection? Or a Dr Phil connection? I see the mother has brown hair. Did you even consider that connection? Did you know that over 80% of all child abusers drank at least one Coke in the month leading up to the abuse?Hey, sexual abuse comes in many religious forms...like, say, Taoism -- like this Aug. 17, 2010 article about a Taoist priest who as a "wellbeing cult leader" was under investigation "for the alleged rape of a student":
Source: Clergy sexual abuse reported in China
Or, say, Buddhism:
Buddhist Clergy Sexual Abuse: Annotated Bibliography
(Is that why you don't seemingly like any linkages made on these threads 'tween certain religious abuse...'cause you think your own is up for exposure next? -- Or what would be your motivations?)

As a Baptist, my faith requires me to defend my Mormon brothers in Christ.
_________________________________________
If you are a Baptist then you have no “Mormon brothers in Christ”
Mormons are not Christians...
Mormons dont believe in the Trinity, the virgin birth of the LORD Jesus Christ, or the death of Jesus on the Cross for our salvation, or the power in His Blood to save us...
Mormons are members of a whole different religion...
A religion which has its beginnings, doctrines, purpose and history closer to Islam than Christianity...
To: laotzu
Mormons believe that Jesus is Christ, and that He died on the cross for our sins.
_____________________________________
No actually Mormions believe that their Mormon jesus just sweated in the Garden of Gethsemanee for their “atonement” but not their salvation as her Christians believe...
Mormon dont believe that the blood of their jesus has the power to forgive every sin...
For murder for instance youre on your own...
Paul would not have made it if it was up to Joey Smith and his jesus...
Joey Smith ???
Oh yes, well if youre a mormon first ya gotta get by the judgement of Joey Smith...
He “earned” his rigfht to judge you...
The mormon jesus ...not so much...
and the mormon holy ghost ???
Well it was so naughty that it never did earn a body so it doesnt count...
its more like a helpless lap dog or a mascot...

As a Baptist, my faith requires me to defend my Mormon brothers in Christ. Not to worry. This is not a burdensome requirement. I want to.
If you are a baptist, why are you quoting Mormon Leadership, Ezra Taft Benson, on your Freerepublic profile page?
I've gone to Baptist churches for years, they are very strong on the Mormon religion being a cult and would never quote one of thier religious leaders as source of wisdom.
Furthermore, why quote a heathan philosopher, Lao Tzu, as if he had any wisdom at all?
If you were truly a Baptist/Christian, I doubt you would be referring to Lao Tzu comments as guiding principles, you'd know and have all the wisdom you need from the Bible.

Yeah, I saw all those “Baptist” quotes on there. BTW, there is someone we know who speaks often of time in “Japan”, is there not?
