The story follows the Burpo family through months of trying times all culminating with their 3-year-old son Colton’s appendix bursting and his near-death.
A few months after this incident, while on a family-trip, Colton began to reveal that during his surgery he actually visited Heaven.
The details with which Colton described his time in Heaven are absolutely incredible.
I am grateful to the Burpo family for allowing readers to be brought into this incredible story.
As I read the book, there were a few times where I literally dropped my phone to my chest (was reading it on my Kindle app) and gasped in disbelief.
I was in awe at how the details continued to be revealed to the family as Colton continued to let them in on his experience in Heaven.
Personally, Colton’s story drew me back to an experience I had with my older sister Stacia while she was still here and suffering through her bout with cancer.
On a Sunday afternoon with her eyes still shut she exclaimed to those of us in her hospital room that she “saw stairs”.
I cannot recall exactly how much time lapsed, but I believe it was over the next couple of hours she gave us a play-by-play of her experience of visiting Heaven.
She was twelve years old.

Very interesting book.
I highly encourage folks to read it.

Wonderful book.
I just finished reading it. Put aside for a moment his visit to Heaven, as a Parent of a young boy myself, I was horrified for a few chapters there as he was fighting for his life. Had this big ole guy nearly in tears reading through his father’s telling of it.
As for the boys story of Heaven and the parent’s documentation of it, I could find nothing that would have me doubt that the story is true. The only questionable part is when he says his great grandfather, “Pop” had wings, and he had little wings himself. Contrary to many old movies and even cartoons we do not become angels. When I got to that part of the book, that is when just a little natural skepticism set in. I was hoping for a little help from his pastor father to ask more on that, but he just let it go. Still it was a good read, and I think the story is highly credible.

I know a little girl who at the age of about 3 died from smoke inhalation in a fire in her home. Her parents said when they brought her out, you could see she was dead.
The paramedics worked on her and finally brought her back. Months later, when she was old enough to talk better, she slowly began to tell her parents about heaven. Like this little boy, the story came out over time. To me, the most touching part of the story was that she said Jesus met her with cheerios. Her folks said cheerios were her favorite thing in the world. Jesus met her in a manner she could relate to.

1 Thessalonians 4:
(16) For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
(17) Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.

The story is not Biblical and didn’t happen. It is a fantasy by the young boy’s mind or just a fantasy written to make money. Every person who has ever lived and died is dead, graveyard dead with the exception of Jesus Christ. This is why God called him the first-fruits. The reason Jesus Christ got up from the dead is because God raised him. If people go to heaven when they die, why would there be a resurrection of the just and the unjust? They would already be in heaven or some other place. Read your Bible people and quit going by what someone else says about the Bible. When we die, we are dead and stay dead until God sends His Son to raise all for judgment. There will be a group of people who will not die who will be changed from mortal to immortal at the Gathering Together commonly called the Rapture.
Death is the enemy, this what Jesus Christ came to defeat. Going by this cute little story, death is just the gate to some bliss filled place. Not true, if the Bible is correct and if the Bible is not correct, we have no hope. I believe it is, that is why is is called faith.
ok, the cheerios got me........I teared up at the image of Jesus meeting a little girl with cheerios.
