Ultra-Orthodox Jews Harass Israeli Believers
CBN ^

Posted on 03/12/2011 11:25:57 AM PST by Amerisrael

ARAD, Israel - For the past seven years, the small Messianic Jewish community in the southern Israeli town of Arad has been harassed and persecuted by ultra-Orthodox Jews who accuse them of missionary activity.

The small desert town, with a population of 25,000 mostly secular residents, is home to a growing number of Israeli believers.

Yakim Figueras, pastor of one of the four congregations there, told CBN News that for years, religious Jews have subjected the believing community to sometimes daily cursing and harassment outside their homes.

"They come with either half-truths against us or complete lies…and they entice their own people and try to bring others against us," Figueras said.

On Wednesday, a demonstration organized by Yad L'achim, the aggressive anti-missionary organization, brought about 200 protesters to the home of Polly Sigulim. Their message was clear.

Interesting that you choose an example of someone who is obviously National Religious rather than ‘Ultra-Orthodox’.

There are people who use Jewish ritual and trappings to make Jews feel comfortable in a Christian setting in order to get them to convert. Christianity is a perfectly fine religion and is a perfect religion for many. It is not, however, Judaism perfected.

hlmencken3 said: One’s essential Jewishness is retained forever.

A Jew who ‘converts’ to Christianity may forfeit some treatment as a Jew (such as being buried in a Jewish cemetery), but need not convert to Judaism should he return to Torah observance. If female, her children will be Jewish.

**you can’t just make up your own Jewish law! Her children will absolutely NOT BE JEWISH. She is done with Judaism.

I commented on the example provided.

I have. I was at the table of an Orthodox rabbi this past Friday night as a matter of fact.

Perhaps you misunderstood the rabbi?

“A Messianic Christian Jew is every bit as much of a Jew as any Orthodox Rabbi. A perfected Jew.”

Jewish law doesn’t recognize a concept of a “perfected Jew” until the Messiah arrives.

An Orthodox Rabbi practices Judaism, and follows Jewish laws, of the Jewish Religion.

A Messiani Jew...does not. They are apostate or never were Jewish to begin with.

Ethnically, they are still Jews, but so what? So is George Soros.

Uri’el-2012: “The anti-missionaries do not seem to worship and obey YHvH”

No actual Jews do .... a real Jew does not use that term even abbreviated. There are specific words they use for speaking of God in Hebrew.

You’ll find the ones who use the abbreviated initials or speak of “Yahweh” are non-Torah pseudo Jews. So here you have it - even in this thread, you have Christians posing as Jews, misrepresenting themselves, and arguing over Torahnic laws. It’s absurd.

tkas: “When Christianity was bringing in pagans who were not Jews, baptizing them and making them Christian. The religion broke from Jewish law and from being a religion on Jews”

Judaism doesn’t address Christianity specifically.

The Torah simply states there is only one God, and not to worship false idols. So since Christianity falls outside of those guidelines, the practice was NEVER sanctioned within Judaism in any way, shape or form, and was akin to the Golden Calf, making it forbidden for Jews to partake.

You do bring up a good point.... As Messianic Judaism is not actual Judaism, and they make up their own rules, they will allow anyone accepting of Jesus to join. This is why speaking of Jews for Jesus as an ethnic group is no longer relevant. To convert to Judaism requires a Rabbinical oversight and adherence to the Torah which Messianic Jews don’t take part in.

Christianity is the only true religion and it is most certainly Judaism perfected.

That’s YOUR belief.

Unfortunately, you have to live in a world with people who don’t share your beliefs.

...remember, after Christianity came Islam, and that religion appropriated Abraham, Moses, AND Jesus... so there’s yet another group who believe they have in fact the perfected religion.

The perfect religion is the one that is perfect for you but don’t force it on your neighbor.

None of the Abrahamic faiths believe we are without sin or have achieved “perfection”.

Really? Where do they perform their animal sacrifices?

Is not YHvH written on Torah scrolls ?

I am aware that there is a long standing Rabbinical tradition not to
pronounce the NAME but instead use HaShem or Adonai in it's stead .

Many believe that non-scriptual tradition is wrong
and we must praise His NAME: YHvH

Only true religion, eh? You sound no different than a run-of-the-mill Islamo-nut.

If there is no holy temple, there can be no animal sacrifices. You should know that!

"Unfortunately, you have to live in a world with people who don’t share your beliefs."

Of course I do. I also share with people who deny other truths like gravity and a round earth. But these sadly mistaken people don't change the truth and the exclusivity of Jesus for salvation is the truth. Finally, give me an example of any Christian currently tryling to "force" Christianity. That's a false flag.

Really? I recall animal sacrifices being mandated of the Jews 500 years before there was a temple. And nothing in law says sacrifices in the promised land should stop if the temple is destroyed. "This people praises me with their lips but their hearts are far from me."

“Finally, give me an example of any Christian currently tryling to “force” Christianity. That’s a false flag.”

Google Crypto-Jews and try and wrap your head around just one example of history.

Then put that in context of someone in Israel saying “convert or die”, or “you’re going to hell”, or “All Jews must embrace Jesus”. It’s no more charming when it comes from a Black Israelite, or Hamas, or a Messianic Jew.

“Is not YHvH written on Torah scrolls ?”

No, it’s not.

It’s mostly Non-Jews who believe it appears in code.

You just gave a good example of you declaring that the tradition was wrong, and you knew better than what is accepted common practice amongst mainstream Jews. See the problem? The Torah, and Talmud give specific names of God which Jews are to use. Messianic “Jews” believe something entirely different.
