Christlike Love
LDS.org ^ | 30 November 2010 | Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Posted on 04/12/2011 9:26:54 PM PDT by K-Ben-K

"Love is what inspired our Heavenly Father to create our spirits; it is what led our Savior to the Garden of Gethsemane to make Himself a ransom for our sins. Love is the grand motive of the plan of salvation; it is the source of happiness, the ever-renewing spring of healing, the precious fountain of hope. As we extend our hands and hearts toward others in Christlike love, something wonderful happens to us. Our own spirits become healed, more refined, and stronger. We become happier, more peaceful, and more receptive to the whisperings of the Holy Spirit."

These statements really are pathetic.

Perhaps.

Are they ACCURATE?

In my opinion, No.

My guess is that you’ve embraced a certain ministry philosophy that somebody’s proclaimed. But that you didn’t think it entirely through. (If that is the case, I encourage you to study the Bible more; and if you eventually come to realize you’ve been handed an incomplete paradigm, run it back up the line from where you heard it and give them feedback as to how incomplete it is)

You could not be further from the truth. I promise you that. I also know that I was lead to this forum for a reason, likely it was to learn humility. Which I sure have taken a very good dose of.

I do not follow what you mean by Speaking/writing or Engage in Actions being multiple choice.

Surely one must be seen doing what they are saying?

But this is getting me no where and I feel that I have laid my heart out on the table for all see. I do not believe that it was seen well and this is sad. Not sad because I am so mis-read, but sad, because I did not see in my words all that you seen.

So please accept my thanks for the pummeling you all gave me; it was needed and I stand corrected.

Enough is enough and I will walk quietly amongst you all here on out.

Your brother in Christ,
Darren

I mean as a six yr old being told in a Lutheran school by a teacher the Protestants don’t know what they are talking about, left a very deep scar. My Dad was a Presbyterian and we went to his Church every Sunday. Churches vary greatly, in my humble experience

“Still, if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.”

-Sir Winston Churchill

You’ll have to guess at which point we are now with the MORMON propaganda machine running at full tilt.

In my opinion, No.

Well; since it's your OPINION and you've posted no EVIDENCE to back that up; I'll not put too much consideration into it.

Which I sure have taken a very good dose of.

I'm sure you can be quite proud of this achievement, too.

Lutherans aren't Protestants? Interesting but you said they are different, I am trying to figure out what you mean. Different in how they view the nature or God, who Jesus is - how are they different? I am not talking about carpet color.

You know what, I could go on and on about evidence from the scriptures and evidence I have seen and experienced of Christlike love but for some reason I don't think you would put too much consideration into that either.

One question for you LC.

If a Mormon sacrificed his life for you, would you consider that Christlike love?

Yes.

If a MORMON gives up a year of his life for The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-days Saints, I do NOT consider that to be Christ-like love.

I am no doubt going to upset someone with what I am about to say. But any Church, Sunday School or Christian (read denomination) that praises itself while looking down on the other “Christian” denominations and the people who belong to them as sorry mis-informants, has blown it with me.

There seems to be a lot of “traditionalism” in many church religions, that do not seem to aid to the true nature of our Loving Father.

One church in particular which my wife and I visited, refused to have any music while singing the hymns. There reasoning was that an Organ wasn’t available back then, so it should not be now. Another group would only use a piano because an organ was not appropriate.

The following sounds a lot like people singing praises to God aided with the joyful sound of music.

Psa 98:6 With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King.

Of course this does not attempt and doctrine comparisons, of which their are more than just a few.

Catholics have there own Bible (not saying that is good or bad)

I am always amused when churches say “but they didn’t have an organ or this or that”. I once said to a person who said that to me “Wow you are correct. So let’s do what King David did, he tore off his clothes and danced in the streets”. Usually these people never make a big deal about it again.
I think the term you are looking for legalism, instead of traditionalism. However, these are really minor. I look for the peoples view of Jesus and the nature of God, for me those are the issues not how they play their music or what color their carpet is or if they are hoty toty.

Yes.

Remember the post said it was IMPOSSIBLE for Mormons to have Christlike love.

I thought that was pathetic.

There reasoning was that an Organ wasn’t available back then, so it should not be now.

Yet... they didn't mind using ELECTRICITY at all; did they!

Don't be TOO hard on them though; for....
