Iran: Death Sentence Upheld
The Voice of the Martyrs ^ | June 29, 2011

Posted on 07/04/2011 4:45:14 PM PDT by wmfights

The Iranian Supreme Court has upheld the death sentence of a pastor convicted of apostasy and accused of evangelizing Muslims. Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani, 34, has been in prison since October 2009, and the appeal of his death sentence was rejected by the Iranian Supreme Court on June 28, 2011. He is to be executed by hanging. If the death sentence is carried out, it will be the first court-ordered execution of a Christian in Iran in 20 years.

“At this time, there is no more action that can be done inside of Iran to overturn this sentence,” a VOM contact said. “It can be carried out at any time. The only options right now are to immediately and swiftly bring international attention to the issue.”

Nadarkhani, a pastor from Rasht, about 750 miles northwest of Tehran, was arrested in October 2009 after he protested a government policy that required children, including his 8- and 9-year-old sons, to study the Quran in school. Nadarkhani told school officials that the Iranian constitution allows for freedom of religious practice. As a result of his protest, secret police called him before a political tribunal and arrested him for protesting. The charges were later amended to apostasy and evangelism of Muslims. Nadarkhani was tried on Sept. 21–22, 2010, by the 1st Court of the Revolutionary Tribunal and sentenced to death on Nov. 13 for apostasy.

Nadarkhani is imprisoned in Lakan prison, where authorities have used various methods, including medication, to convert him back to Islam, according to Present Truth Ministries. After Nadarkhani refused to convert to Islam, his wife was arrested, put on trial without an attorney and sentenced to life in prison. She was later released after an attorney appealed her sentence. The Nadarkhanis’ children were cared for by a relative while they were both in prison.

Please lift up Pastor Nadarkhani urgently before the Lord and ask for his release. Go to his profile on www.prisoneralert.com to email government officials on his behalf.

Islam isn't a religion, it's a political movement focused on your death.

In the past there have been churches that burned people at the stake for not holding to the State religion. Wouldn't we have to ban them as well?

It wouldn't apply here. That happened in the Old World, and has no application for the US. Furthermore, it can be argued that whereas capital punishment does presently exist in Islam, it does not exist in Christianity. The issue of Islamic violence has always been rebuffed by its appologists: but now we have a nation's Supreme Court on record issuing capital punishment merely for evangelizing. In my opinion, Iran has the sovereign right to do so: but in doing so it exposes Islam for what it is, at its core doctrine. And that is the case that needs to be made in each state house in the United States.

Islam isn’t a religion, it’s a political movement focused on your death.

Actually, it is a religion with a political aim. As it is one of the seven major world views (and one of the three monotheistic religions), it retains its religious worship and framework of beliefs alongside its overarching political goal of domination.

How can a religion be both religion and a political system? By being Islam. True Islam functions within a community (the umma) that optimally carries its own political identity.1

Yes, Lord, be dramatically with him in ways that shock, humble and humiliate his captors.

If they persist to the hanging, Please, Lord, translate him out of this dimension right before their eyes—perhaps leaving his clothes behind or not and seeing him white robed ascending into Glory.

PLEASE Put the fear of Almighty God Jehovah—GOD ABOVE ALL GODS—GOD OF ABRAHAM, ISAAC AND JACOB, OH, LORD—put the fear of GOD IN THEM TO THEIR BONE MARROW SUCH THAT THEY CANNOT SLEEP UNTIL THEY SEEK JESUS.

It's a low-grade ripoff of Christianity, full of good reasons to kill your fellow man.

It's anti-Christian, anti freedom and anti-American. It should be outlawed.

Get out now. Leave the Middle East to their nefariopus games. We are not going to change these people. Open our doors to any Middle eastern Christian who wants to come here and close it to Muslims.Middle Eastern Christians are a doomed religious people.

Agreed, it is a different world over there and to force them to change, like we did with Japan and Germany after WWII, will take resources we don't have now plus it might not work anyhoo. We need to get out of there, work on our defenses and produce our own energy.

Prayers for Pastor Nadarkhani are on the way.

May he stay strong and his loved ones be lifted up.

Don't expect Zero do do a thing.

Pastor Nadarkhani will give more credibility to Christianity. He will be honored in heaven.

These are the people about whom we are supposed to be tolerant?

The free world had better wake up, or when these INTOLERANT people become the majority and begin voting their laws into place, non-muslims everywhere will be exterminated.

THX THX.

If you have time to sift through the youtube stuff about military convoys, military materiel movements on a massive scale . . .

to come up with the more credible, it would be a great service to post that on the Agenda 21 thread.

Some warnings sound a bit shrill . . . on the other hand . . . with different fingers . . . given Janet Napolitano’s warnings to several of her closer friends for them to stock up on 6 months of food and water ASAP . . . we should NOT be the least bit complacent.

imho.

Where did you see this? I just went to the VOM homepage and it says that the sentence is upheld.

Why does it sound good? It sounds like the barbarians still intend to execute a man simply for preaching the Gospel to his CHILDREN.

AGREED.

However, it’s better news than that he had been hung an hour ago.
