Know Mormons' beliefs before voting for them
WyomingTribuneEagle ^ | July 9, 2011 | Dion Clark

In response to whether the public should vote for a Mormon for president, one should know what beliefs a candidate had.

Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman have Mormon roots and they have been vague about their beliefs and loyalty to the LDS church.

Mormon theology includes ideas like their priesthood brethren will become the government leaders, or future kings of the world, in a globalized theocracy, and that their male leaders will take over when a second coming of Christ occurs. They believe they are the pre-ordained leaders to rule over a coming theocratic kingdom.

Worthy Mormon males are temple attending, dressing in white with special learned handshakes, altar rituals, Masonic rites and gestures and do secretive activities different from normal society.

They believe they are the future gods of new worlds in a life after this one. They follow prophets with ever-changing doctrine and change their fictional "Book of Mormon" every time it is found to be un-politically correct.

Their women are taught they are good for breeding, to have large families.

A member of this cult is loyal to its church leaders and to whatever their modern prophets tell them is gospel, which changes at their will.

They claim to be Christian, but Mormon polytheism of many gods/goddesses in a hereafter, rituals that must be performed in their temples, garment wearing and works (not grace) that saves a person is different ideology.

It is debatable whether Mormons are Christians, and they have other scriptures special to Mormonism written by their leaders, not just the New Testament, like their Doctrine and Covenants and Book of Mormon.

To learn about them and their practices, beliefs and personal character will help us determine whether they are the future leaders of Americans. Or are they really stuck in their controversial past?

The stats in Nevada tell a story of too many LDS voting or Reid, like 80%!

I suggest it would be better to work hard to make sure we don’t have to make that choice, than to argue over it.

Another option is to take JR's suggestion, and just commit to never voting for Romney period, rather than merely hide one's feelings.

Well, according to the links I provided, many mormons didn’t see Reid as a good mormon, they didn’t like his positions on issues, and a majority were leaning toward Sharon Angle.

Do you have any links to an exit poll showing the voter breakdown by religion? I’ve searched, but none of the exit polls I found online said Reid won the mormon vote.

How does that imply that I should not be in a religious forum?

I don't believe that post was addressed to you.

But now I am curious, why did it make you uncomfortable and provoke an irrational response?

I can find no evidence that Reid won the mormon vote; do you have a reference to an exit poll which shows how the candidates did in Nevada by religion?

Hey out the MORMONs!

Do you know the name of the person that LOST the election who was running AGAINST Reid?

It doesn't, of course.

It merely points up the fact that one who believes that religion should be so PRIVATE, is very PUBLIC in their telling of it.

Here are somethings we do know:

SLC would rather have a high ranking mormon in the senate than a first time Republican. (reported widely)

We also know from exit polls that 11% of Republicans vote for Reid.

We also know from exit polls that 18% of the voters were self describes as conservative.

We also know that mormons voted for Reid in past elections.

We also know that 12% of the voters in the exit polls that said they were weekly church goers voted for Reid.

We also know that mormons make up 7-10% of the active voting population of Nevada.

We also know that under the category of Christian in exit polls mormons are usually placed in the sub category "other". Out of the sub category 80% voted for Reid.

We also know that Reid won by a very small margin.

Conjecture, yea. Still looking for the article written after the election that said a majority of mormons voted for Reid.

I'm not claiming that authority.

Good - you are honest with yourself on that point.

And its no damn business of yours what kind of underwear I wear which, at the moment, happen to be navy blue boxer shorts if it is any real concern of yours.

My, need your coffee this morning eh?

Your boy John Calvin . . .

Calvin is not "my boy" wasted a quite a rant vman

Others are like you and are still stuck in the 17th century with your narrow intolerant dogmas. Get over it.

Read you post in the mirror vman - the only intolerant one here is you.

But then you were aware of that already.
