Will This Be The First Time The World Sees The Ark of Covenant?
Daily Mail (UK) ^ | 12/5/11 | Rick Dewsbury

*Leaking roof in Ethiopian chapel 'will lead to relic being revealed'

*Ark contains Ten Commandments God 'gave' to Moses on Mount Sinai

*One holy monk is the only person allowed to see the holy box...

* ...but he'll need a hand carrying metre long wooden structure to new home

A very British problem of a leaky church roof could be about to give the world the chance to glimpse the legendary Ark of the Covenant.

That's because the claimed home of the iconic relic - a small chapel in Ethiopia - has sprung a leak and so the Ark could now be on the move.

The Ark - which The Bible says holds God's Ten Commandments given to Moses on Mount Sinai - is said to have been kept in Aksum, in the Chapel of the Tablet, adjacent to St Mary of Zion Church, since the 1960s.

According to the Old Testament, it was first kept in the Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem for centuries until a Babylonian invasion in the 6th century BC.

Since then it's been the goal of many adventurers and archaeologists to find it. Most-famously, but also fictitiously, Indiana Jones was shown in the 1981 Steven Spielberg film Raiders of the Lost Ark.

There has also been a long-running claim from the Orthodox Christians of Ethiopia that they have had the Ark for centuries, and since the 1960s it has apparently been kept in the chapel.

This small and curiously-styled building is surrounded by spiked iron railings, and situated between two churches, the old and new, of St Mary of Zion in central Aksum.

No one has been allowed to see the holy object, described in scripture as being made from acacia wood, plated with gold and topped with two golden angels, except one solitary elderly monk...........

"let's see the Ark" party. Just ping me and I'll read about it after it happens.

I'm sure there will be no survivors......

What about that 200 ft hole on that island (Nova Scotia) that no one can drain?

That's where we put the original studio tapes of "Billy Don't Be A Hero" by Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods. I'd hate to think what would happen to mankind if that ever got out again.

An argument full of hypotheticals about the projected behavioral patterns of others, couched in a very supercilious attitude, but very short on facts.

The blood was collected in a bowl. The blood was brought into the holy of holies and sprinkled on the ark and before the ark by the priest using his finger. This was done on a yearly basis.
14 And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times.

15 Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:

34 And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the LORD commanded Moses. --Leviticus 16:14&15&34

It was activated by dripping blood from a sacrificed animal.

From the reading, your chain of causation is backwards. Once a year the LORD would appear in a cloud in the space above the ark between the outstretched wings of the cherubim and the priest, in the first instance Aaron, would perform these various sacrificial actions "before the LORD:"
Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.

And he shall take the two goats, and present them before the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.

12And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD,

13And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not:

18And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the LORD, and make an atonement for it;
So the description is that upon a certain day, the tenth day of the seventh month, the LORD makes an appearance there at that place and time for the high priest to make an intercession between him and the people of Israel. The image is not of someone "activating" a radio with blood: "Hey, squirt a little more blood over here and see if we can get this signal cleaned up a bit more." It wasn't a bloody ouija board. It was an official meeting between the LORD who had made a covenant with a group of people and the priest who was representing the group of people before the LORD.

Professing Christendom without the New Birth of John chapter 3 and Titus 3:5.

In plain English, it's called judging.

Facts? The evidence is in the so-called worship of every-day Christendom. And the bigger and more ritualistic the so-called church, the greater the evidence.

Dig up something that will be purported to be the Ark of the Covenant, and the idolators of Christendom will just go bonkers over it.

Could save the time, money, and energy, just get a plywood box, spray paint it gold, fasten some poles to the sides of it, photoshop it to look ancient, call it the Ark, and just watch the same thing happen . . . it will happen.

Ark of Covenant

The tabernacle which David had pitched to receive the Ark was not, however, to be its last dwelling place. The King indeed had thought of a temple more worthy of the glory of Yahweh. Although the building of this edifice was to be the work of his successor, David himself took to heart to gather and prepare the materials for its erection. From the very beginning of Solomon's reign, this wince showed the greatest reverence to the Ark, especially when, after the mysterious dream in which God answered his request for wisdom by promising him wisdom, riches and honour, he offered up burnt-offerings and peace-offerings before the Ark of the Covenant of Yahweh (III Kings, iii, 15). When the temple and all its appurtenances were completed, Solomon, before the dedication, assembled the elders of Israel, that they might solemnly convey the Ark from the place where David had set it up to the Holy of Holies. Thence it was, most likely, now and then taken out, either to accompany military expeditions, or to enhance the splendour of religious celebrations, perhaps also to comply with the ungodly commands of wicked kings. However this may be, the chronicler tells us that Josias commanded the Levites to return it to its place in the temple, and forbade them to take it thence in the future (II Par., xxxv, 3). But the memory of its sacredness was soon to pass away. In one of his prophecies referring to the Messianic times, Jeremias announced that it would be utterly forgotten: "They shall say no more: The ark of the covenant of Yahweh: neither shall it come upon the heart, neither shall they remember it, neither shall it be visited, neither shall that be done any more" (Jer., iii, 16). Yet we do remember it. So by that I think we will see it again. This period has not begun yet. IMHO.
