Don’t forget me on the ping list! :D

Great article; how inspiring!!! It’s my hope and prayer that the Roman Catholics on this site will experience the same joy and blessing as he and we enjoy through God’s grace!

“It’s my hope and prayer that the Roman Catholics on this site will experience the same joy and blessing as he and we enjoy through God’s grace!”

Thank you ...and may HE bless you with his choicest gifts. As a Catholic of Irish heritage, I grew up in the Catholic Church and had a very intimate relationship with God even as a young girl. His grace has been amazing in all aspects of my life. Each day, despite even this crisis and all of the world upheaval, is joyful and full of blessing. I find that I am richly nourished by my Church and I most assuredly love my brothers and sisters in Christ who do not attend the Catholic Church. Let us strive to build up and encourage one another in Christ.

;-)

What a beautiful testimony of how you loved Yahweh as a child and pursued a relationship with Him throughout your life. I too longed as a child to know Yahweh. I turned to Him when I was 35. Now I have studied the Bible for the past thirty years and see how man's doctrines and traditions have created a religion that is extra Biblical. My pursuit now is understanding and walking in the Gospel Jesus preached which is not the gospel the church has preached. It is quite an adventure.

Amen & Amen!
“Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD, Praise ye the Lord.” (Psalm 150:6)

“For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.” (John 3:17)

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconcilation.” (2 Corinthians 17-19)

“For He[God] hath made Him[Jesus] to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)

I had a similar situation. I was a cradle Catholic, converted to the Baptist faith in my 20’s and had a similar experience. After a really long study of 8 years trying to save my family from the Roman Church, I found myself reverting back to her.

I had the similar notion of all those works and rituals until I realized in my study, that the Catholic Church teaches one thing and one thing only

We are saved by grace, through faith, and evidence of this is our works. Any other order prescribed by any one in the faith is in error on the teachings of the Catholic church. Works are important as we are Jesus’s hands and feet on this earth and we are to do as He would do while on it. Jesus’s life was lived in action- living the corporal and spiritual works of mercy, as we are called to do.

Just as there are not so great, or even horrible examples of every faith out there, that does not negate the fact that a devout christian, Catholic or other wise will absolutely say when asked, that we are wretched sinners, in need of salvation, and that we are saved by grace through faith and the evidence of this is our works, which are comprised of our imitation of Christ’s example to us while He walked the earth both proclaiming and doing the word and works of God. Let anyone who tells you otherwise be treated as suspect, as they do not know what the Catholic Church teaches regarding salvation. They are going by hearsay from some disgruntled or misinformed Catholic in name only and believe me, we have some doozies-I was one of them.

The fact of the matter is some people are too stupid to be Catholic. Catholic theology is far beyond their 80 IQs.

“The fact of the matter is some people are too stupid to be Catholic.”

Actually, that is not Catholic teaching.

>> During my two years at seminary, I learned about religion and philosophy but there were no biblical studies. I attended daily mass and monthly confession but, alas, there was no teaching on forgiveness for sin. <<

I will state categorically that this person is a bald-faced liar. There is no way on Earth that a seminarian wouldn't learn about absolution, since he is required to communicate it.

As to the plainly ridiculous claim that he didn't get any scripture studies: A quick check on the Maynooth curriculum confirms that students learn in their first year alone:

Revelation and Faith ("Revelation" is how Catholics will sometime refer to entire corpus of scripture.)
Introduction to Biblical Greek
Introduction to Biblical Hebrew
Introduction to Ecclesiastical Latin
Scripture Studies 1: Eden to Exile
Scripture Studies 2: New Testament

Plus, they are required to perform the Holy Offices, which are scripture readings every three hours. Not to mention, of course, the fact that their theology courses are biblical as well.

Why do Calvinists feel they must slander Catholicism?

There’s a total of twelve courses on scripture alone in the Maynooth divinity curriculum.... plus of course the rest of the theology courses are based on scripture.
