Per CNN Exit polls (see: EXIT POLLS: South Carolina), that tally was 39% Romney; 32% Gingrich; 16% Paul; 8% Santorum.
But you know, 80 percent of South Carolina voters were Protestants...and the 2010 nation-wide election brought out over 1/3rd of ALL votes from white Evangelicals/born agains...and of this last group, 44% went Gingrich; 22% went Romney; 21% went Santorum per CNN.
So with one Mormon and two Catholics, how come Ron Paul did so badly??????
Or, another way to look at it, the Catholics with two candidates got 2/3 of the non-Paul vote and Romney got 1/3...isn’t that about what you should expect if Religion didn’t matter?
Colofornian, we’ve been telling people Romney couldn’t carry the evangelical base for five years and man have we taken heat for it. Why would the GOP push Romney so hard knowing this??
Their neighborhoods are probably saturated with Mormon door-to-door salesmen and women
I know when I lived there I got a visit once a month and then twice a month..
They know about Mormonism
When you know enough you dont call it genuine and part of typical presidential materials
its a big turn off
