The religious rules, which Christians believe were etched onto tablets by God and given to Moses, have been modified to use up-to-date language and principles.

Inspired by last year’s riots, the new vows include “manage your anger”, “know God” and “catch your breath” and are understood to be used in more than 600 churches in Britain.

The original “thou shalt not steal” has become “prosper with a clear conscience”, and the lengthy “thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain” becomes “take God seriously”. The commandments, designed by popular evangelical preacher J John

Flexible? Not in my church, and not in my house.

Another “Winning The Future” moment. I see why that is usually abbreviated.

He said: “It’s basically a way of presenting the Ten Commandments to help people connect with them in a positive way.

I don’t think a positve spin is what God intended............

Did you catch the statement by the author of these “commandments” that he wanted people to understand God’s timeless principles? If the principles are timeless, why do they have to be restated? I’m sure that this bozo will do a much better job than the omniscient God, right? What a clown.

Realavistic new commandments with plenty of ‘wiggle’ room on the meanings.

An “evangelical” rewrote the Big 10?! Not a conservative one, I gaurantee it.

I wonder if the persons oohing and aahing over this “revision” of God's commandments think that He is going to install cable and air-conditioning in Hotel Hell for them?

The original “thou shalt not steal” has become “prosper with a clear conscience”

Bernie Madoff has said he does not feel guilty at all for what he did. I guess he must be doing the Lord's will!

Why not? Churches that have a low view on the inspiration of scripture can make it say anything they want it to say.

Changing the Ten Commandments is blasphemy.

Anyone arrogant enough to think they can do this should spend eternity in Hell.

“And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book”. Revelation 22:19

No doubt many will ask, “what do you mean by ‘take away’?” Seems very clear to me.

It sounds like a paraphrase, nothing more than an interpretation like “The Message” or “The Living Bible”. I’d have to check more into it to really get an idea. I’m not big on paraphrases, but I wouldn’t call it total blasphemy.

“The Message Ten Commandments”

3 No other gods, only me.

4-6 No carved gods of any size, shape, or form of anything whatever, whether of things that fly or walk or swim. Don’t bow down to them and don’t serve them because I am God, your God, and I’m a most jealous God, punishing the children for any sins their parents pass on to them to the third, and yes, even to the fourth generation of those who hate me. But I’m unswervingly loyal to the thousands who love me and keep my commandments.

7 No using the name of God, your God, in curses or silly banter; God won’t put up with the irreverent use of his name.

8-11 Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Work six days and do everything you need to do. But the seventh day is a Sabbath to God, your God. Don’t do any work—not you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your servant, nor your maid, nor your animals, not even the foreign guest visiting in your town. For in six days God made Heaven, Earth, and sea, and everything in them; he rested on the seventh day. Therefore God blessed the Sabbath day; he set it apart as a holy day.

12 Honor your father and mother so that you’ll live a long time in the land that God, your God, is giving you.

13 No murder.

14 No adultery.

15 No stealing.

16 No lies about your neighbor.

17 No lusting after your neighbor’s house—or wife or servant or maid or ox or donkey. Don’t set your heart on anything that is your neighbor’s.

“Bernie Madoff has said he does not feel guilty at all for what he did.”

Interesting article in the WSJ on Saturday about sociopaths on Wall Street. A sociopath is someone incapable of feeling guilt.

Cheating someone out of their nesteggs is just a bloodless way of killing somebody.

There’s not trying to understand a sociopath. There’s just putting them away so they can’t interact with the rest of us.

Where I’m confused is in the difference between the perfectly demonically possessed and sociopathy. I think its something only an exorcist could make a determination on an individual by individual basis.
