Mitt Romney-The French Years
LeMonde/WorldCrunch ^ | Phillippe Bernard

Posted on 03/08/2012 9:16:23 AM PST by AnTiw1

From 1966-1968, Romney spread 'the word of Jesus,' door-to-door from Bordeaux to Paris, as a Mormon missionary. It was a tumultuous period, both politically and personally for young Mitt. Indeed, some say his French tribulations are the source of his ambitions.

It was a small country road winding through the Bordeaux region, a tight curve entering the small village of Bernos-Beaulac, just before the local post office. On June 16, 1968, this typically French scenery almost ended Mitt Romney’s would-be career – and young life – before it had even yet begun.

A Mercedes was speeding in the opposite direction and missed the turn, hitting Romney’s car head-on. The Mormon missionary was 21 years old at the time, and “the son of the Governor of Michigan,” wrote the local newspaper Sud Ouest at the time.

The first policeman on the scene wrote “He’s dead” on Romney’s passport. It turned out Romney survived the accident with a swollen face and broken arm. But Leola Anderson -- the wife of the President of the Mormon Mission to France Duane Anderson, who was himself seriously hurt in the crash -- died.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints chartered a special train to bring back its leader and Romney to Paris four days later. “In a rare move at the Saint-Jean station, (…) two ambulances were allowed to park on the platform in order to move the wounded onto the Paris-bound train,” wrote Sud Ouest daily. “I was frightened of driving a car,” said Mitt Romney to the Boston Globe in 2007. “I had a sense of vulnerability I had not experienced before.”

Oh, a car accident.

I thought maybe he was held prisoner and enslaved by a couple of bootleg winemakers, ala Bart Simpson...

when door after door was slammed in his face by French miscreants.

Miscreants? So if we don't vote for the other French guy we're miscreants? (I almost called him the "other white meat." There's a joke in there somewhere.)

Well the first sentence is an outright lie. Mormon missionaries spread the word (and Gospel) of Joseph Smith. Jesus is just a ‘hook’.

But you know that.

yes, indeed i do
if you check the link there’s a lot of strange goings on w mitt in those years
even if he weren’t lds he’d be a very odd duck
been treated like the son of pharaoh since the womb
no connections with a normal person’s day to day concerns
his attitude in public is like the alien from another planet who’s watched all our tv shows and is trying to be like us but keeps tripping over all the nuances of human life our media didn’t prepare him for
he’s that far out there...the mothership has arrived...lol

That is also the perfect description of Mormons and Christianity, they go through the motions, what they think they should be saying or doing like “Jesus is the Christ”, and calling each other “Brother and Sister (last name)” out of rote, but they really don’t get it. And real Christians can see through the facade easily.

It also describes Mitt politically as well.

Mittens doesn't exactly have the luck o' the Irish like Barky does. The accident wasn't his fault but do we really want an unlucky President?

Imagine being a young man going door to door in a suit meeting young French pre-strumpets all day, and not being able to do a thing about it. Un-luck-eeee.

Let’s take a wager how many times will this Romney resurrection story be published (always the same story different papers) before the convention?

Also the Mormons tried to say later that the CATHOLIC PRIEST who was driving the car that Romney hit was drunk...

However the police never said he was..

and there was never any evidence..

The mother of the Catholic priest and another lady were also in the car ...
