Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The Book Of Jonah
Chapter 1

Jonah’s Disobedience

1. Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, 2. “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me.” 3. But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. He went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish; so he paid the fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.

The Storm at Sea

4. But the LORD sent out a great wind on the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea, so that the ship was about to be broken up.
5. Then the mariners were afraid; and every man cried out to his god, and threw the cargo that was in the ship into the sea, to lighten the load.[a] But Jonah had gone down into the lowest parts of the ship, had lain down, and was fast asleep.
6. So the captain came to him, and said to him, “What do you mean, sleeper? Arise, call on your God; perhaps your God will consider us, so that we may not perish.” 7. And they said to one another, “Come, let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this trouble has come upon us.” So they cast lots, and the lot fell on Jonah. 8. Then they said to him, “Please tell us! For whose cause is this trouble upon us? What is your occupation? And where do you come from? What is your country? And of what people are you?”
9. So he said to them, “I am a Hebrew; and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land.”

Jonah Thrown into the Sea

10. Then the men were exceedingly afraid, and said to him, “Why have you done this?” For the men knew that he fled from the presence of the LORD, because he had told them. 11. Then they said to him, “What shall we do to you that the sea may be calm for us?”—for the sea was growing more tempestuous.
12. And he said to them, “Pick me up and throw me into the sea; then the sea will become calm for you. For I know that this great tempest is because of me.” 13. Nevertheless the men rowed hard to return to land, but they could not, for the sea continued to grow more tempestuous against them. 14. Therefore they cried out to the LORD and said, “We pray, O LORD, please do not let us perish for this man’s life, and do not charge us with innocent blood; for You, O LORD, have done as it pleased You.” 15. So they picked up Jonah and threw him into the sea, and the sea ceased from its raging. 16. Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice to the LORD and took vows.

Jonah’s Prayer and Deliverance

17. Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father In Heaven,
Hallowed be Your Most Holy and Wonderful Name!
For Your Alone Are Worthy of Our Devotion,
For You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are the True God of The Universe!
The Earth is Yours
And The Fullness thereof
You Control the Wind and The Rain
You Create a Lovely Spring Day
Or a Mighty Tempest.
Where can we run?
For When I Go to sleep at night, You are with me.
When I awake in the morning, You Are There.
You know my going out and my coming in.
You count every hair of my head,
And You keep all my tears in a bottle as a remembrance.

Abba Father,
When You give us a task,
Let us not flee from it.
Even if we don't particularly want to do it!
And teach us to love all whom You have created,
Even those who are wicked and vile.
For we were all once as they are,
Until You, in Your mercy,
Snatched us out as a burning coal from a fire.

LORD,We Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem.
We pray for peace to flow like Living Water
From the One True Rock and Redeemer.
Like Cool Refreshing Water
From the Stricken Rock in the Desert,
Refresh Your People Israel,
And give them rest from their enemies,
who press in from all sides.
Be a Fresh Blue Oasis for Them
in the midst of a harsh dry Wilderness
That threatens to crush them from every angle.

We Pray For the Leaders of Our own Beloved USA
May They Receive Wisdom from You
to do the Right Thing.

We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Today we start the Book of Jonah. It is MUCH more than just a "Fish Story".

Jonah is given the task of preaching to Nineveh (Present Day Mosul, Iraq), but because it is such a disgusting place, filled with idolatry and sin, Jonah does NOT want to go. So he thinks he can run away from God, and boards a ship to Tarshish.

The huge storm that God sends to Jonah affects everyone on the ship. All of their lives are in danger because of Jonah's disobedience. Everyone prays to his own "god", but the storm only gets worse! When they finally discover that Jonah is the reason for the storm, it gives Jonah the opportunity to share the One True God with the sailors. Notice that this witness is enough to get everyone on board to offer prayer and sacrifices to the God of the Hebrews, after throwing Jonah over the side, of course!

Notice also that God PREPARED a great fish to swallow Jonah. It wasn't just a passing whale that wanted a snack! This verse implies that God miraculously made the fish into a place where Jonah could sit and think about his sin for three days!

The Story of Jonah is not a myth. Those who have faith that the Creator is Almighty, have no problem believing that He could "Prepare a great fish" to be a virtual tomb to bring about Jonah's repentance.

Jesus of Nazareth believed the story, and used it as an analogy to describe His coming Death and Resurrection.

Come and Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our Suffering Brothers and Sisters, and For Our Beloved Nation.

The battle is still raging and the most powerful weapon will be used until ordered to cease.

Psalm 94

God the Avenger of the Righteous

1 O Lord, you God of vengeance,
you God of vengeance, shine forth!
2 Rise up, O judge of the earth;
give to the proud what they deserve!
3 O Lord, how long shall the wicked,
how long shall the wicked exult?

4 They pour out their arrogant words;
all the evildoers boast.
5 They crush your people, O Lord,
and afflict your heritage.
6 They kill the widow and the stranger,
they murder the orphan,
7 and they say, ‘The Lord does not see;
the God of Jacob does not perceive.’

8 Understand, O dullest of the people;
fools, when will you be wise?
9 He who planted the ear, does he not hear?
He who formed the eye, does he not see?
10 He who disciplines the nations,
he who teaches knowledge to humankind,
does he not chastise?
11 The Lord knows our thoughts,*
that they are but an empty breath.

12 Happy are those whom you discipline, O Lord,
and whom you teach out of your law,
13 giving them respite from days of trouble,
until a pit is dug for the wicked.
14 For the Lord will not forsake his people;
he will not abandon his heritage;
15 for justice will return to the righteous,
and all the upright in heart will follow it.

16 Who rises up for me against the wicked?
Who stands up for me against evildoers?
17 If the Lord had not been my help,
my soul would soon have lived in the land of silence.
18 When I thought, ‘My foot is slipping’,
your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up.
19 When the cares of my heart are many,
your consolations cheer my soul.
20 Can wicked rulers be allied with you,
those who contrive mischief by statute?
21 They band together against the life of the righteous,
and condemn the innocent to death.
22 But the Lord has become my stronghold,
and my God the rock of my refuge.
23 He will repay them for their iniquity
and wipe them out for their wickedness;
the Lord our God will wipe them out.

Heavenly Father may you continue to bring an overwhelming, crushing defeat on the forces of darkness in our nation, may you smash every crooked deed as they try to hold onto power and may this be so convincing that everyone knows that your hand is in this. Then we may bring the light of your Gospel to the nations as you did this time in history:

http://jn1838.blogspot.com/2010/02/battle-of-lepanto-battle-that-saved.html

May you block and undo every policy and piece of legislation they have passed that is harmful to this nation. May you make every policy they make fail and may you turn the hearts of the multitudes against them. May you thwart every evil deed they try to divide this nation. May you bring their own mischief upon them ten fold. This day we shatter the clay jar of Jeremiah 19 in their faces. May you punish those in our government who are lawless traitors and also enemies of Israel by exposing them and deliver them into our hands for justice

And this we humbly ask in Jesus name.

Psalm 37

Exhortation to Patience and Trust
Of David.

1 Do not fret because of the wicked;
do not be envious of wrongdoers,
2 for they will soon fade like the grass,
and wither like the green herb.

3 Trust in the Lord, and do good;
so you will live in the land, and enjoy security.
4 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act.
6 He will make your vindication shine like the light,
and the justice of your cause like the noonday.

7 Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him;
do not fret over those who prosper in their way,
over those who carry out evil devices.

8 Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath.
Do not fret—it leads only to evil.
9 For the wicked shall be cut off,
but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land.

10 Yet a little while, and the wicked will be no more;
though you look diligently for their place, they will not be there.
11 But the meek shall inherit the land,
and delight in abundant prosperity.

12 The wicked plot against the righteous,
and gnash their teeth at them;
13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
for he sees that their day is coming.

14 The wicked draw the sword and bend their bows
to bring down the poor and needy,
to kill those who walk uprightly;
15 their sword shall enter their own heart,
and their bows shall be broken.

16 Better is a little that the righteous person has
than the abundance of many wicked.
17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken,
but the Lord upholds the righteous.

18 The Lord knows the days of the blameless,
and their heritage will abide for ever;
19 they are not put to shame in evil times,
in the days of famine they have abundance.

20 But the wicked perish,
and the enemies of the Lord are like the glory of the pastures;
they vanish—like smoke they vanish away.

21 The wicked borrow, and do not pay back,
but the righteous are generous and keep giving;
22 for those blessed by the Lord shall inherit the land,
but those cursed by him shall be cut off.

23 Our steps* are made firm by the Lord,
when he delights in our* way;
24 though we stumble,* we* shall not fall headlong,
for the Lord holds us* by the hand.

25 I have been young, and now am old,
yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken
or their children begging bread.
26 They are ever giving liberally and lending,
and their children become a blessing.

27 Depart from evil, and do good;
so you shall abide for ever.
28 For the Lord loves justice;
he will not forsake his faithful ones.

The righteous shall be kept safe for ever,
but the children of the wicked shall be cut off.
29 The righteous shall inherit the land,
and live in it for ever.

30 The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom,
and their tongues speak justice.
31 The law of their God is in their hearts;
their steps do not slip.

32 The wicked watch for the righteous,
and seek to kill them.
33 The Lord will not abandon them to their power,
or let them be condemned when they are brought to trial.

34 Wait for the Lord, and keep to his way,
and he will exalt you to inherit the land;
you will look on the destruction of the wicked.

35 I have seen the wicked oppressing,
and towering like a cedar of Lebanon.*
36 Again I* passed by, and they were no more;
though I sought them, they could not be found.

37 Mark the blameless, and behold the upright,
for there is posterity for the peaceable.
38 But transgressors shall be altogether destroyed;
the posterity of the wicked shall be cut off.

39 The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord;
he is their refuge in the time of trouble.
40 The Lord helps them and rescues them;
he rescues them from the wicked, and saves them,
because they take refuge in him.

Change is coming.

2 Kings 11

Athaliah Reigns over Judah

11Now when Athaliah, Ahaziah’s mother, saw that her son was dead, she set about to destroy all the royal family. 2But Jehosheba, King Joram’s daughter, Ahaziah’s sister, took Joash son of Ahaziah, and stole him away from among the king’s children who were about to be killed; she put* him and his nurse in a bedroom. Thus she* hid him from Athaliah, so that he was not killed; 3he remained with her for six years, hidden in the house of the Lord, while Athaliah reigned over the land.

Jehoiada Anoints the Child Joash

4 But in the seventh year Jehoiada summoned the captains of the Carites and of the guards and had them come to him in the house of the Lord. He made a covenant with them and put them under oath in the house of the Lord; then he showed them the king’s son. 5He commanded them, ‘This is what you are to do: one-third of you, those who go off duty on the sabbath and guard the king’s house 6(another third being at the gate Sur and a third at the gate behind the guards), shall guard the palace; 7and your two divisions that come on duty in force on the sabbath and guard the house of the Lord * 8shall surround the king, each with weapons in hand; and whoever approaches the ranks is to be killed. Be with the king in his comings and goings.’

9 The captains did according to all that the priest Jehoiada commanded; each brought his men who were to go off duty on the sabbath, with those who were to come on duty on the sabbath, and came to the priest Jehoiada. 10The priest delivered to the captains the spears and shields that had been King David’s, which were in the house of the Lord; 11the guards stood, every man with his weapons in his hand, from the south side of the house to the north side of the house, around the altar and the house, to guard the king on every side. 12Then he brought out the king’s son, put the crown on him, and gave him the covenant;* they proclaimed him king, and anointed him; they clapped their hands and shouted, ‘Long live the king!’

Death of Athaliah

13 When Athaliah heard the noise of the guard and of the people, she went into the house of the Lord to the people; 14when she looked, there was the king standing by the pillar, according to custom, with the captains and the trumpeters beside the king, and all the people of the land rejoicing and blowing trumpets. Athaliah tore her clothes and cried, ‘Treason! Treason!’ 15Then the priest Jehoiada commanded the captains who were set over the army, ‘Bring her out between the ranks, and kill with the sword anyone who follows her.’ For the priest said, ‘Let her not be killed in the house of the Lord.’ 16So they laid hands on her; she went through the horses’ entrance to the king’s house, and there she was put to death.

17 Jehoiada made a covenant between the Lord and the king and people, that they should be the Lord’s people; also between the king and the people. 18Then all the people of the land went to the house of Baal, and tore it down; his altars and his images they broke in pieces, and they killed Mattan, the priest of Baal, before the altars. The priest posted guards over the house of the Lord. 19He took the captains, the Carites, the guards, and all the people of the land; then they brought the king down from the house of the Lord, marching through the gate of the guards to the king’s house. He took his seat on the throne of the kings. 20So all the people of the land rejoiced; and the city was quiet after Athaliah had been killed with the sword at the king’s house.

21 *Jehoash* was seven years old when he began to reign.

Amen for your beautiful prayer and the actions of Jonah.

God’s Children:

Thank You, Lord, for Your Love, Your Graciousness, Your Patience, Your Tenderness, Your freely given talents and gifts, and, above all, Your Children.

Without Your Children, this world would be totally corrupt, a wasteland of hatred and avarice, greed and wantonness beyond all imagination.

Without Your Children, this world would be hell. Let those who have ears, hear. Let those with open eyes, see the truth of the abomination.

This land has become an abomination (obama nation). Our greed and selfishness shows itself to the entire world.

Help us, Father, to overcome the destitution that has reigned, here and throughout this world.

Save us from ourselves, Father.

In Your Heavenly Name, we pray.

Amen!!
