Skip to comments.[LDS] Group calls on Santorum to disavow pastor over Mormon comments
Posted on 03/14/2012 2:51:59 PM PDT by T Minus Four
SALT LAKE CITY -- An LDS-oriented group is calling on GOP presidential hopeful Rick Santorum to disavow a pastor who made anti-Mormon comments earlier this week.
In a news release, MormonVoices, which is associated with the Foundation for Apologetic Information and Research, called for Santorum to "condemn the anti-Mormon comments made by his supporter, an honorary Florida chairman, the Rev. O'Neal Dozier" of the Worldwide Christian Center.
On Monday Dozier said "the Mormon religion is prejudiced against blacks, Jews and native Americans." He called Mormonism a "racist" religion and called on Romney to renounce it.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints did not issue a response to Dozier but earlier has said "people of all races have always been welcomed and baptized into the church since its beginning" and "the church unequivocally condemns racism, including any and all past racism by individuals both inside and outside the church."
Scott Gordon, managing director of MormonVoices, not associated with the church, said, "Dozier's comments represent a form of religious bigotry that should not be tolerated by any serious candidate for the Presidency of the United States. His comments are either ignorant or are willful misrepresentations for personal or political purposes."
Look, I’m tired of perpetuating this despicable article. You can do a search, just like you should have done before you posted it.
I wish that there was someway to block the religion forum posts from the main page of comments, so we wouldn’t have to be bothered by them unless we want to.
Are you a Romney supporter?
Oh, come on Eva if you don’t like the post, think it’s duplicate, feel that people are unfairly attacking Santorum, press the abuse button, complain to the admin, do something else besides whining about it.
You only have to press the news/activism link, stop pressing the everything link and you will not see items in the religion forum.
All the posters on the first posting of the article were the Romney supporters.
Reposting the article played right into their hands and the hands of the Gingrich supporters, who like to claim that Santorum supporters are just too radical on social issues.
- - - - - - -
First, I highly doubt that about Romney supporters since that is grounds for a zot around here, but I do know we have some stealth romneybots.
Second, you are flat out hysterical. You remind me of a certain Perry supporter who drove a whole lot of people away from Perry with her accusations. You need to chill.
Third, you are not helping your candidate with your false accusations.
Fourth, who died and made you the arbiter of Santorum’s defense?
Seventh-day Adventists 0.57%
Our numbers are a LOT better if you'd come-a-counting on the RIGHT day!!!!
--SDA_Dude(how 'bout that 3% stuff!)
. Find a radical Mormon hater and tie him to Santorum, then demand that Santorum denounce one of his own supporters.
- - - -
Um...this guy tied himself to Santorum and this guy IS RIGHT about MORMONS, he isn’t a Mormon hater he speaks the truth.
It is the Mormons who think this guy is a ‘hater’ and demanding an apology and the Mormons are the Romney supporters, not us.
Actaully according to you we are ‘radical mormon haters’.
Excellent! You rock!
This is one time BLACKs can actually count their blessings and have cause to celebrate, who wants to go to BIGOT heaven?
Blacks all over should just stand up and shout "THANK YOU" to the LDS.
and it is not a religous article. It is a campaign article. Maybe it doesnt belong in the religion section.

Well, since it involves the comments about the Mormon church and a Mormon group bullying, then gee, the RF is a perfect place for it.
And still waiting for the link to the other posting....
Not in the least, Tminusfour is a Santorum supporter who lives in Utah.
This is about the hypocrisy of Mormons.
T is one of the flying inmans of FR.
You would think, but the LDS ‘god’ changed his mind after several lawsuits were filed against the LDS church and the court issued subpenas for their financial records to see if they were violating non-profit status (honestly).
So, rather than face bad publicity or turn over financial records (that most churches have open to the PUBLIC), the LDS god just rolled over and said ‘ok, Blacks can have the priesthood now’, after of course some convincing on the part of the LDS prophet...
I’m so glad the real God isn’t that fickle or bows to public pressure.
We can only pray that some of these messages will sink in to some Freepers who blindly follow a screwed up religion.
Eyes to see, and ears to hear, but alas they do not. You and I both know they want to be right with GOD, and are stuck in the quagmire of LDS, one day it will be to late and they will find there is no other Planet for them.
Brings to mind the man in hell who wanted to be able to tell his brothers before its to late, which was denied. One life, one death, then judgement before the true GOD the I AM.
Why take the chance?
LOL! Far from it!
I thought you would get a huge laugh out of that question. LOL.
I looked three days back and couldn’t find it, doesn’t mean it wasn’t there but never found it none the less.
Eva claimed it was within 24 hours of this post. I couldn’t find it either.
The woods are full of 'em.
Ah, the great myth promoted by Hodar that only Christians are supposed to withstand the "alienating" vocab of religious convos 'tween Mormonism & Christianity.
Somehow Mormons -- for 180 years -- can publish MILLIONS & MILLIONS of worldwide "scriptures," curricula, articles, multi-media, online presentations, missionary door-to-door presentations...and label EVERY Christian as a "corrupt," heart-wandering "apostate" filled with 100% abominable creeds as part of the devil's church...yet if ONE Florida pastor holds ONE press conference to send a single volley across the net...suddenly Hodar's "alienation calvary" rides to the rescue!!!!
So, 'BREAKING NEWS' 4U Hodar...READ CAREFULLY:
#1 There's already been a 180-year schism 'tween Mormonism & Christianity...and guess, what? The Mormon church started it!
The fact is, Hodar, that Joseph Smith's first vision already attempted to squeeze our neck veins into breathing silence. He dug a gigantic graveyard for the worldwide Christian church, declared our...
...joinability null & void,
...ALL our creeds as an "abomination" to his god,
...and the heritage of our professing believers as 100% corrupt [see Joseph Smith History, vv. 18-19 of Pearl of Great Price]
The real question, then, Hodar is: "Do you & Freepers of like mind agree with these three Smithian assessments of Christians & the Christian church?"...
The reality is that a LOT of FREEPER threads focus on the already-existing wall between Romney and voter bases...this includes that 180-year schism begun by Romney's Mormon church (no FREEPER or Florida pastor created that; it already exists).
So, if this is a "wall of 'alienation'" you're referencing, about some great potentiality of "splitting up" a Mormon-Christian "marriage," well, ya just have flunked @ history.
#2 If Christians are not overly strained by Mormonism's slander of Christians, Mormons can grow thicker skin:
(a) To repeat: I know what the avg. Mormon believes about me. I know they dont tolerate ANY of my creeds (their good book & their leaders tell 'em those are automatically 100% abominable!)
I know many don't seem to perceive Christs righteousness in me (their good book tells them Im automatically corrupt).
I know they dont respect our faithfulness to Christ and His church (their leaders & good book tell them were all "apostates")
BUT, BUT...despite knowing all these walls Mormons have had in place for 180 years does it keep me from linking up with a Mormon to oppose abortion, homosexual agenda, nationalized healthcare, higher taxes, working with youth as Boy Scout troop leaders, etc. etc ??? (No!)
So, if your "alienation" comment covers this so-called "separation" -- how is it that I and other Christians are able to work around Mormon-built walls, but somehow you think it's too "divisive" for Mormons to do the same in reverse?
I already know our beliefs are different. But somehow the wall-high belief system Mormons have about Christians is something we can stomach as we work with grassroots Mormons to some agree but somehow they cant do the same in reverse? Why not, Hodar?
(b) Lopsided, one-sided appeal to 'political unity': What I don't understand, is that apparently on matters that mean much to you or to Mormons the putting forth of "my cause, my agenda" the appeal will be made to "unity" so that we can ride on a common surfboard cuttin thru rough waters.
Yet, when it comes to discussing biblical matters that mean much to us-
--for example, the Great Commission in life, our mission, truth-telling...
...these things are all supposed to be submerged -- and only by Christians? (Not by Mormons?) (Why can't you at least try to hold them in balance and give them at least equal weight?)
Bottom line: If I can get along with Mormons who reference me as an
..."apostate" "corrupt" believer
...who belongs to the "church of the devil" -- a false and dead church --
...who supposedly believes in "abominable" creeds --
...then I don't think I can come up with as much to match just that one press conference re: this Florida pastor's accurate description of Mormonism.
Therefore, to some degree on pushing common socio-political objectives, things should be relatively hunky-dory.
Mormons can grow thicker skin:
- - - - -
Mormons are extremely thin skinned. They perceive every question as ‘hate’ and everyone who doesn’t speak about them glowingly as ‘antis’. How many times have we been called Nazis or worse? How many leaders of ministries to the LDS have received death threats? (answer to that is almost all of them).
On top of that add the hypocrisy that they have no issue calling Christians names or making fun of them and their beliefs.
It isn’t that Christians have thicker skin, it is that we have Jesus. For us it isn’t about protecting an organization like it is for the Mormons.
LOL! Mrs Harris “Smart, Smart, Smart, Smart”
Because there isn’t one. I posted this within 5 hours of it being posted on KSL and it’s not a Reuters piece. But if it gives her a purpose in life....
I'm afraid that my workload has reduced me to being a part time Inman. I read more than I post, so don't worry, I'm still following the Inmans' exploits, and contributing what I may.
These are the same people who claim that the Mormons are the victims whenever anybody complains about baptism of Holocaust victims, Martin Luther King, Jr., Hitler, and the like.
Per Mormonvoices, if you talk about this, it's unfair to Mormons:
"News coverage expressing outrage or ridicule over this practice is unfair to Mormons who are acting out of respect and selflessness rather than the religious triumphalism assumed by critics."
That may give you some idea of the mindset of this particular group.

Hey if it is paid work, that is a good thing in this economy. Don’t worry, bro, we got your back. ;)
THE BOOK OF JACOB
THE BROTHER OF NEPHICHAPTER 224 Behold, David and Solomon truly had many wives and concubines, which thing was abominable before me, saith the Lord.
25 Wherefore, thus saith the Lord, I have led this people forth out of the land of Jerusalem, by the power of mine arm, that I might raise up unto me a righteous branch from the fruit of the loins of Joseph.
26 Wherefore, I the Lord God will not suffer that this people shall do like unto them of old.
27 Wherefore, my brethren, hear me, and hearken to the word of the Lord: For there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife; and concubines he shall have none;
28 For I, the Lord God, delight in the chastity of women. And whoredoms are an abomination before me; thus saith the Lord of Hosts.
29 Wherefore, this people shall keep my commandments, saith the Lord of Hosts, or cursed be the land for their sakes.
30 For if I will, saith the Lord of Hosts, raise up seed unto me, I will command my people; otherwise they shall hearken unto these things.
31 For behold, I, the Lord, have seen the sorrow, and heard the mourning of the daughters of my people in the land of Jerusalem, yea, and in all the lands of my people, because of the wickedness and abominations of their husbands.
32 And I will not suffer, saith the Lord of Hosts, that the cries of the fair daughters of this people, which I have led out of the land of Jerusalem, shall come up unto me against the men of my people, saith the Lord of Hosts.
Or even HERE:
1 Timothy 3:2-3
2. Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,
3. not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.1 Timothy 3:12
A deacon must be the husband of but one wife and must manage his children and his household well.Titus 1:6
An elder must be blameless, the husband of but one wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.
DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS
OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTSSECTION 1325157, Emma Smith is counseled (commanded) to be faithful and true; 5866, Laws governing the plurality of wives are set forth.51 Verily, I say unto you: A commandment I give unto mine handmaid, Emma Smith, your wife, whom I have given unto you, that she stay herself and partake not of that which I commanded you to offer unto her; for I did it, saith the Lord, to aprove you all, as I did Abraham, and that I might require an offering at your hand, by covenant and sacrifice.52 And let mine handmaid, Emma Smith, areceive all those that have been given unto my servant Joseph, and who are virtuous and pure before me; and those who are not pure, and have said they were pure, shall be destroyed, saith the Lord God.53 For I am the Lord thy God, and ye shall obey my voice; and I give unto my servant Joseph that he shall be made ruler over many things; for he hath been afaithful over a few things, and from henceforth I will strengthen him.55 But if she will not abide this commandment, then shall my servant Joseph do all things for her, even as he hath said; and I will bless him and multiply him and give unto him an ahundredfold in this world, of fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters, houses and lands, wives and children, and crowns of beternal lives in the eternal worlds.
Ah; ya know we’ll still accept whatever you can do; for even a part-time Inman can still run circles around a full time MORMON.
Hey if it is paid work, that is a good thing in this economy. Dont worry, bro, we got your back. ;)
Very apt analogy.
1) It is not permitted to wash clothing in the Jacuzzi.
2) Swimming naked is not permitted and will result in a **HUGE** fine. ( I forget the amount.)
My husband laughed as said, “Each of these rules exists because someone did this!” :-)
Well.....I am certainly glad not to be supervising a bunch of 19 to 21 year old young men and women in a foreign country. Each of the items in the long list in your post is probably there for their safety and well-being.

Not all LDS missionaries go to a foreign country and the MP (Mission Pres) verily rarely sees the boys in he field or goes to their apt. The minions must go to the king.
And, yes, some of them are for their safety, but a good chunk of the purpose is control. LDS missions are a time when the LDS church makes one last attempt at brainwashing. Been there, done that.
It is interesting to note that one of two things happen after an LDS mission generally (particularly with the men). Either the “Returned Missionary” leaves the LDS (or goes ‘inactive’ which means no longer attends the LDS church), or they become a ‘Norman Mormon’ - a good faithful, brainwashed Mormon.
My husbands good friend in High School was LDS and always laughing and making jokes, real lively. My husband ran into him after his mission and was shocked at how he changed. He was somber, serious, and my husband said his eyes were souless. He came home and cried and said “they just sucked the life out of him!” and that is a pretty good description.
However, not everyone has those kinds of Missions. Freeper Utah Binger, broke several rules on his mission and left right after.
It’s the overwhelming guilt they try to lay on you. I was just an independent soul steeped in disobedience and rebelliousness. One also learns to feign a certain sanctimoniousness.
And Denmark? Best two and a half years of my life. LOL
If it’s good for the goose it’s good.
No doubt about this at ALL!
Now then: is MORMONism similar to a Nanny State?
You still ARE; you old fart!
Tourists would probably STILL be driving on gravel on UT-9 if you hadn’t ‘helped’ the authorities along!
With the handicap.
Yes; MORMONs do seem to be handicapped.
None on FR seem to be able to stand in the face of facts for very long.
Three hours until Corned Beef is ready. I think there must be one ounce of Irish somewhere in this old fart.
Whatever that means.
IU all the way!
Thank you for your good work.
