I think you said it all....
Sent it to my pastor, too. :o)
You’re too kind. After that person’s first statement, I would have been doubled over laughing and might have made that person angry. ;o)
Thanks for the ping!
They could hardly be more available if they were in every bag of M&Ms in America.

Excellent letter. This sentence did make me chuckle because I think chocolate may actually be more expensive than birthcontrol.
Whoever wrote that must have the brain of a six year old child..............and they need to give it back..............
It was so well explained, even that dimwit should get it!
Kudos to you!!
And what they're demanding we do (not just the Catholic Church and its institutions, but all religious missions which have employees, and in fact, every employer in America) is to provide for mortal sin as a benefit.
I hope he's printing it in the bulletin!
Rolling eyes at the folks who can just blithely ask for this. Yes it is partly a Catholic (and other Christian) religious liberty issue, and it’s a plain old taxpayer issue too. Is the notion of US freedom now collapsed into the “freedom to demand and get whatever you jolly well please on somebody else’s dime”?
Obviously that “parishoner” was a politically active liberal democrat, who has little or no idea what the church is all about (once a year on Easter?)
The moral conscience, both individual and social, is today subjected, also as a result of the penetrating influence of the media, to an extremely serious and mortal danger: that of confusion between good and evil, precisely in relation to the fundamental right to life. A large part of contemporary society looks sadly like that humanity which Paul describes in his Letter to the Romans. It is composed "of men who by their wickedness suppress the truth" (1:18): having denied God and believing that they can build the earthly city without him, "they became futile in their thinking" so that "their senseless minds were darkened" (1:21); "claiming to be wise, they became fools" (1:22), carrying out works deserving of death, and "they not only do them but approve those who practise them" (1:32). When conscience, this bright lamp of the soul (cf. Mt 6:22-23), calls "evil good and good evil" (Is 5:20), it is already on the path to the most alarming corruption and the darkest moral blindness. (Evangelium vitae)
i’m usin’ that
A+ in Logic, Moral Judgment, First Amendment...and BACKBONE!
Someone ping JimRob and tell him we have another perfect example of why we need a “LIKE” button!!!
Obama mandating us to pay a separate $1 fee for abortions means that for Catholics whose conscience tells them that abortion is a mortal Obama is literally telling us to go to Hell.

Way to go! Great letter!
Perhaps this person needs to read all the links I’ve been sending out on threads with the history of all this confrontation and near loss of religious freedom.
Or does she even realize that the Constitution is in play here?
Good for you, Mrs. Don-o. It takes time to pen a letter. Meanwhile, it continues to discourage and aggravate me at the utter (and pathetic) ignorance that exists out there. The lady missed the WHOLE point. And not only that, telling an organization what they CAN’T do (No, Rastafarians, even though marijuana is part of your religion, you WILL be arrested if you possess that substance)is completely different from telling them what they MUST do (Dear Catholics, yes, even though you hold life sacred, you must pay for the people who want to kill innocent life).
I am sending her statement to my bishop! (In fact, I'm planning to put together a mailing to about 110+ bishops.)
Freep-mail me to get on or off my pro-life and Catholic List:
Please ping me to note-worthy Pro-Life or Catholic threads, or other threads of general interest.
Well said. I went through it a couple of times, and can’t think of anything to add or change.
Very, very dark forces at work here, I fear.
Double plus good.
WoW, great letter!
Yeah but, personal assault weapons are cool.
The Ten Commandments and The Didache as well as these:

Is there any chance you could include the list you are compiling of our Big B and little b bishops and their addresses in a post or article to all of us?
If you have a list of people that you automatically send items of interest to Catholics,I'd like to be included.Ny'er,Salvation and Pyro do a great job notifying all of us on what's "happenen now" and your contributions are pretty critical and not quite the same as theirs.
I've just completed Andrew Breightbart's book "Righteous Indignation" and he talks about the great need to expose the main stream media and their lying ways.He states they must be smothered by truth and it apparently is up to us,the laymen journalists to accomplish the job they should be doing. Hard-hitting,factual little book.
You are just the kind of "lay journalist" that's going to help turn the table upright again,God willing.BTWbefore you got your own name and you wrote on don-o's posts I thought you were probably a great, fun and smart couple, say "hi" to him for me!!!
what kind words you have. Some of us go wwwwwaaaaayyyyyyy back, don’t we?
God in His mercy should have made stupid painful.
Religious beliefs are not defenses against committing crimes. Which is why a Bruja can not offer up a child sacrifice or why a Fundamentalist Mormon can not have 7 wives or why a Muslim can not stone his wife who cheats on him.
But to put objections to the HHS contraceptive mandate in the above category one would have to fist assume that it is against the law to have an objection to the use of contraceptive or in the extreme example against the law to not take contraceptives. As far as I know, that state of affairs has not yet reached these shores.
It is perfectly legal to object to the use of contraceptives and to believe if you cooperate in their use you are doing something wrong and against your faith.
Which makes the objection to the HHS mandate a matter of religious liberty and not a criminal act.
This isn't about Catholics! They want to make it so. People seem to attack Catholics with glee and get a 60% approval, even from Catholics. It's about religious liberty and must remain so. As I keep saying over and over, if you don't want to be Catholic, change to something else, but to call yourself Catholic and be for homosexual marriage, birth control, abortions, and about 80% of the Dem platform, then just give up and get out. You aren't a Catholic.
It's the libtards we have in the clergy that want the food stamps and welfare that confuse the laity and vote Dem, but want to twist and squirm their way around the rest of the libtard agenda, like no prayer, god hater, baby killers. That's a big price for a food stamp that the Church should be providing the poor. All over the world, socialists in the Church are forming revolutions to overthrow governments so they can "be nice " to the poor. The CHURCH is supposed to be nice to the poor, not the government.
If you want food stamps from government, you must accept dead children, sodomy, prayer bans, God haters, and other abominations. There's your choice. The Church should draw a line and explain to those that cross it what the consequences are.
What’s to discuss? The letter says it all! Bravo!
I completely agree.
Kudos! Where there is one, there are probably many more. Thank you for sharing the text and inspiring other Catholics to follow your example.
Excellently well put! Wish we’d had your wordsmithing around when the gays were taking over the Methodist church.
