My father in law, the beloved great grandfather of our 9 grand children, died a few hours ago. As a Catholic it pains me to ask for selfish prayers. But screw that, this is a guy I loved and respected more than you can imagine. He was a father to me in truth, not just a courtesy father borrowed from my wife.
Please help us send him home. He wasn't what you would call the most devout person on the planet, but he believed in God and right. He lived right.
I'll not see him in purgatory.

But often their lives serve God, and they know and acknowledge him on a non verbal level...

No one would do it on their own, they are under the authority that tells them to do it. I remember it at the time.
I was thinking of you earlier knowing that awful gut feeling realizing they are gone. It’s still all so new. Sad time for you/your wife and family.
