President Obama has hired Michael Wear,an apostate Catholic who belongs to a nondenominational,evangelical-style church in Washington,to counter the Bishops campaign to protect religious freedom in the US.
Michael Wear, who currently serves as executive assistant to the executive director of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, will join the Obama campaign in Chicago as faith vote coordinator,a campaign official said.
Wear, who was raised a Catholic but now attends a nondenominational,evangelical-style church in Washington, has spearheaded White House outreach to evangelicals and has focused on policy issues like adoption throughout Obamas first term.
A source close to the campaign said the decision to hire a faith-focused staffer was provoked largely by continuing criticism of the administration from Americas Roman Catholic bishops and conservative Catholic organizations.
I dont think the campaign originally had this position in its box, said a source close to the campaign, who refused to speak on the record because the person was discussing sensitive issues.
But persistent opposition from Catholic groups sent the message that this was something (the campaign) had to think about longer-term, the source said.
Sources close to the campaign say the timing of Wears hiring was not dictated by the controversy over Obamas support for legalized same-sex marriage. After Obama announced his support,he hosted a conference call with 13 pastors Wednesday to talk about his views.
The Catholic bishops and conservative Catholic groups have attacked Obama over a proposed rule that would require all employees, including those at Catholic institutions other than churches,to have access to free contraception. Those camps have also alleged that the White House is waging a broader assault on Americans religious liberty.
Protect the Pope comment:The idea that President Obama has hired an apostate Catholic to get out the Catholic vote for the November presidential election is mind-boggling inept. But then President Obama has already lost the vote of faithful and loyal Catholics so it makes no difference who he appoints.
Michael Wear may get a good response from evangelicals because hes rejected Catholicism and joined an evangelical community, but to think that this will go down well with genuine Catholics is just dumb.
“...executive assistant to the executive director of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships...”
And to think that we are taxed at the point of a gun to have such a ridiculous job title.
I’m sure that an apostate Catholic is just the person who will be able to counter the arguments of the Bishops.
The end of this administration cannot come soon enough. Tomorrow is good for me.
King Henry VIII he is.
I guess he's shooting to turn that number around ... to 13%.
Holy euphemisms, Batman.
Holy euphemisms, Batman.
Apparently it's sorely needed, since so many of his faithful have fallen away...
Michael Wear, a phony Catholic for the phony pResident who presents a phony birth certificate.

He may not be there to try and smoothing anything over. He may be trying to get a feel for how non-Catholics, especially Evangelicals, will react to King Barry following in the footsteps of earlier kings and seizing Catholic property after revoking the tax exemption of the Catholic Church. Given how divided Evangelicals are, all but outlawing the Catholic Church would end organized Christian resistance to King Barry and probably make an awful lot of Evangelicals and Independents into King Barry supporters.
I think that's liberal-speak for "atheist masquerading as a Christian".
I think, if Obama is reelected, he will attempt to organize an American Patriotic Catholic Church.
I wonder how many of the bishops will side with him?
Tell me how moves like this do not denote the wheels are coming off the bus and they are gonna get their @sses handed to them in the biggest flippin landslide in history..
“Michael Wear may get a good response from evangelicals because hes rejected Catholicism and joined an evangelical community, but to think that this will go down well with genuine Catholics is just dumb. “
as a practicing Catholic i must ask, how can any obama stooge go down well with and evangelical???
Building himself a home in hell.
He can sit at Obama’s right hand there.
Cino in my book.
“CINO” now that’s good. I never saw that before.
Your grade A++. :>)
Yes, Catholic In Name Only!
If they try reaching out to this evangelical they're going to pull back a nub.
You’ll see “CINO” used here quite often - justifiably so.
Missed “RINO”. I’m scheduled for an eye exam for new glasses in June looks like I need them. Mea copa for missing previously used RINO! :>)
“Im sure that an apostate Catholic is just the person who will be able to counter the arguments of the Bishops.”
Until the recent row with the bishops, the hierarchy was quite content to watch the most Catholic states go consistently Democrat (see Gore, Kerry, Obama). Protestants saved us with W twice; he was more Catholic than the bishops. I’m ashamed to be an American Catholic in terms of politics; it is inexcusable how reliably we support the murderers of children.
Actually, I've seen an improvement in many of the bishops for the past several years. Sadly, Cardinal Wuerl is far too much of a politician to make that grade.
As many of the bishops initially nominated by Abp. Jarot (the former nuncio back in the 70s) reach retirement age, they are being replaced with far more orthodox ones. Look at the dust-up when Cardinal Dolan was pushed into the USCCB presidency, rather than the "next guy" on the list (Kicanas).
I also consider Archbishop Chaput's stances he's taken, along with Archbishop Nienstedt's work to clean up the notoriously liberal St Paul Archdiocese. And there are others.
The point being that I think we are starting to see a little turnaround here. It isn't fast enough for me, but, as Catholics, we should know by now that the Church doesn't operate on our timetable.
Go to that extreme and we could very well see a second American revolution happen.
Pretty much it is now ONE AND DONE for Obama and he knows it.
I know they move slowly, but elections happen, cultures & attitudes shift, and souls are lost.
But never give up hope, in conversion.
"Go to that extreme and we could very well see a second American revolution happen."
Which is exactly what the folks who created and groomed King Barry have been trying to ignite ever since they were in college back in the sixties. They don't even care if they win or loose, either. It's enough for them to have the US fall into chaos and to no longer be an international leader.
Now that King Barry will back the Reich Ministry of Economic Preferance Allotment with Executive orders along with putting the Reich Ministry of Population Purification and American Cytogenetics in charge of the national medical infrastructure they're either going to have all their dreams finally come true or face the sort of mass reaction they don't believe the American people are capable of. The question is, are the American people capable of actually taking their government back if it means fighting fire with fire to do so?
On a related note, I was at a particular gathering of a large number of Knights of Columbus a couple weeks back.
Lots of different folks from lots of different backgrounds. But all are reasonably devout Catholics.
I've been to this gathering any number of times, including in 2008, 2004, and, I think, 2000.
Something I noticed that was different this time:
Many people spoke openly and hostilely about the Kenyan anti-Christ who currently occupies the White House.
Politically, this is a fairly heterogenous group, although it tends toward moderate conservatism. At this gathering, politics is almost never brought up. In fact, it's kind of taboo.
In most years, with this group, you're probably getting something that parallels the vote of Mass-attending Catholics, which, most years, is to vote slightly more Republican than Democrat, at least at the presidential level.
But not this year. Folks were seething about the anti-Christ. They wanted him gone. They spoke openly and contemptuously about the anti-Christ and his regime.
Another difference - the official line, from Supreme on down, is very hostile toward the current regime. We saw a video of the Supreme Knight say everything other than, “He's the devil's son, and no one may vote for him!”
At one point, I made a casual comment to a friend sitting next to me about that was interpreted in a negative way about the anti-Christ. An African American gentleman sitting in front of me and overheard my comment. He turned around nodding his head, saying, “You got that right!”
I think that the Mass-going Catholic vote may go very heavily against the anti-Christ this time. And I think that turnout among this group will be heavier than usual. Folks are very angry at the regime and the anti-Christ.
Just my two cents from a recent experience.
Thank-you for making my day with that commentary.
