Pray for our American Heroes
June 2, 2012 | Irish Rose

Posted on 06/02/2012 10:46:20 AM PDT by Irish Rose

Shout for joy, O heavens;
rejoice, O earth;
burst into song, O mountains!
For the LORD comforts his people
and will have compassion on his afflicted ones.

But Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me,
the Lord has forgotten me.”

“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast
and have no compassion on the child she has borne?
Though she may forget,
I will not forget you!
See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;
your walls are ever before me.”
(Isaiah 49:13-16)

Holy Father, we come to You to seek Your mercies.

Father, we pray for those members of our military who are lonely or discouraged in their duties. Comfort them with an understanding of Your measureless love, in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Lord, we pray that Governor Walker will win his recall election, and that You will strengthen and guide him in governing his state.

Let the heavens shout for joy, let the earth rejoice, let the mountains burst into song – for You, LORD, have compassion on Your afflicted ones. You took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows; You were pierced for our transgressions and crushed for our sins. When we feel that You have forsaken us, that You have forgotten us, that we pour out our hearts to You and You only look at us – Lord, remind us of these things. Remind us that even if a mother could forget the baby at her breast, You could not forget us. You have engraved us on the palms of Your hands – even as Your love for us is written forever in the nail marks in Your hands. We pray to You, the God who comforts His people, in the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Fragile Loads

June 2, 2012

As Dolores was driving along a country road, she noticed that a car was following her rather closely. She could almost feel the irritation of the driver as she drove cautiously and slowly navigated several turns.

Of course, the driver of the other car had no way to know that Dolores was transporting 100 pounds of mashed potatoes, two crockpots full of gravy, and many other food items for a church supper—enough to feed 200 people! Sensing the other driver’s frustration, Dolores thought, If he just realized the fragile load I’m carrying, he would understand why I’m driving like I am.

Just as quickly, another thought occurred to her: How often am I impatient with people when I have no idea of the fragile load they might be carrying?

How easily do we pass judgment on someone, assuming that we know all the facts about a situation? God’s Word sends us in a more charitable direction, instructing us to treat each other with kindness, humility, and patience (Col. 3:12). How much more loving we are when we bear with and forgive each other (v.13).

Let’s treat others as we would like to be treated (Luke 6:31), remembering that we don’t always know the burden they may be carrying.

Kindness is a loving guide
That shows us how to live,
A treasure which, the more we spend,
The more we have to give. —Anon.
If you are tempted to lose patience with another, stop and think how patient God has been with you.

Read: Colossians 3:12-17

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. —Ephesians 4:32

PRAYERS GOING UP FOR OUR AMERICAN HEROES AND FOR OUR BELOVED NATION!

GEN. GEORGE WASHINGTON AND THE MARQUIS DE LAFAYETTE AT VALLEY FORGE

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise for our heroes in the American military who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Amen.

SHADOWS AT ARLINGTON

Heavenly Father, Lord of the Nations, unto Your Divine Mercy we commend the souls of these who have fallen in the service of our Beloved Nation and in defense of the freedoms we hold dear. We pray that You gather them in Your loving embrace, that You cause Your countenance to shine upon them and that You vouchsafe their souls to dwell eternally in Your Divine Presence. Through Your Son, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

Nos genuflectitur ad non princeps sed Princeps Pacem!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)
