Black clergy from across the country are planning to announce their support for same-sex marriage in Maryland this week.
The pastors and other clergy, led by the Rev. Delman Coates of Mt. Ennon Baptist Church in Clinton, are hoping that their public display of support will help erase the perception that all black pastors are against gay marriage. "The impression that all African-American pastors are fundamentally opposed to the idea of marriage equality is wrong," Coates said....
"Though homosexual marriage advocates constantly slander the rest of us as irrational, hateful bigots, most people's objections are quite sensible," Jackson, pastor of Hope Christian Church in Beltsville, wrote on his church's website on Saturday. "They do not want schools teaching their children ideas about homosexuality that will disrespect their religious convictions. They are also concerned that if we 'loosen' the definition of marriage once, we may do it again. Almost no one is comfortable with legalized polygamy, for example, but if marriage no longer means one man and one woman, what's to say it won't mean three or four people?"
..Hoping to make history in Maryland, O'Malley and other same-sex marriage supporters have been going the state to raise funds for the legislation. O'Malley has helped organize fundraisers in Connecticut, New Hampshire, San Francisco and, most recently, New York, where supporters paid between $250 and $25,000 to attend the star-studded event.

See my tagline.
Wolves in sheep’s clothing. We were warned.
Just more water-carriers for liberalism. Religion is incidental and/or a hindrance.
This jack boot called “clergy” doesn’t read the same BIBLE that I do.
Yup, just never read 1st Chapter of Romans - it's as if the entire Bible was the Sermon on the Mount.
These “clergy” shound like they are right at home in ultraliberal MD.
It is a disqualifying act for a pastor to approve of sin, and sexual immorality of any kind is sin. (Rev 22:15)
5 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate: A man is sleeping with his fathers wife. 2 And you are proud! Shouldnt you rather have gone into mourning and have put out of your fellowship the man who has been doing this? 3 For my part, even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit. As one who is present with you in this way, I have already passed judgment in the name of our Lord Jesus on the one who has been doing this. 4 So when you are assembled and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present, 5 hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh,[a][b] so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord.
6 Your boasting is not good. Dont you know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough? 7 Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batchas you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. 8 Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old bread leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people 10 not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. 11 But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister[c] but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.
12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13 God will judge those outside. Expel the wicked person from among you.[d]
I guess that justifies their support of faggotry. Right? Scripture is their authority ... how can they go wrong?
Christians should accept the sinner but reject the sin. For pastors to promote and give approval to same sex so-called marriage is utter apostacy. Jesus sets the sinner free but by enabling the gays with Christian approval keeps them in bondage. Shame on these pastors. Is it all about the One and his sanction of gay marriage?
They might be pastors but they are definitely NOT Christians.
Who are their congregants?
I'd guess faggots and other liberals. Certainly no Christians. God is pretty clear about what HE thinks about homosexual behavior.
well, that’s how they interpreted scripture...
“Who are their congregants?”
Miscreants, deviants, perverts and assorted garbage. Those “pastors” are fakes/frauds/heretics/liars, like Jack-scum and Sharp-scum.
They’re coming out because the first time MD had the same-sex marriage vote, it was the black preachers who called their representatives and stopped the bill last year. They were the only reason it failed then. Unfortunately, it went through this year, but the voters will be able to vote on it this fall.
“They are also concerned that if we ‘loosen’ the definition of marriage once, we may do it again.”
With the state involved, at least in the modern era, it certainly will change again, and yet again. After all, the definition the state uses is simply whatever judges, pols, or the majority want it to be at any one time. And that’s it.
You can bet the Obama campaign is slipping them the usual "walkin' around money" that Democrats use as a long-standing "street" technique to get out the vote. Obama's operatives know full well that gay marriage doesn't sit too well with many religious blacks.....and this is their strategy to counteract any break in the black rank-and-file vote.
They have a campaign strategy for EVERYTHING, folks. This is just one of many being utilized right now across the fruited plain.
This has little to do with gay marriage, of course, from the pastors point of view.....and everything to do about getting a candidate (Obama) of their color re-elected.
There aint enough of them to get same sex marriage in Maryland.
Maryland still has a few good people in it.Enough to get this on the referendum, and enough to stop it.
O’Malley and his wife may love homosexuals, but the people of this state will reject them.
Scripture is their authority, they believe in Adam and Steve should be allowed to marry each other, so I guess that's the way it is.
