In a surprise announcement that seemed scripted by novelist Dan Brown, a Harvard professor revealed an ancient scrap of papyrus on Tuesday that refers to Jesus' wife. The so-called "Gospel of Jesus' Wife" presents a dialogue between Jesus and his disciples, said Karen King, a respected historian of early Christianity at Harvard Divinity School.

You'll have to go to the article for the 5 questions. One should have been why a tiny fragment from possibly the 4th. Cen. would be puffed up into a "Gospel of Jesus' Wife" when it is no such thing.

King seems anxious to turn a few lines of unknown origin into new insights into early Christian belief, etc., etc.

"www.christianpost.com/.../the-gospel-of-jesus-wife-ancient-fragment" gives a few more details.

Why do we need this fragment to tell us this? There are numerous references to the bride of Jesus in the accepted NT.

There is no evidence that Jesus had a wife.

There is most likely no evidence that he did not have a wife.

One would think that the apostles would speak of Jesus’ wife in later writings after Jesus had been executed. Yet there is no mention of a wife.

Teh only mention of this is from that crackpot Dan Brown.

Paul said his preference was that Christians remain single so that they could devote themselves to the issue at hand (spreading the gospel and serving the Lord Jesus). How much MORE focused would Christ, Himself, be about his mission? He did not come here to live a carnal life...he came to “seek and to save those who are lost.” He came to die, and He knew that.

She is one of those people trying to discredit Christianity, so this should violate those blasphemy laws Obama wants.

Imagine 1500 years from now someone gets their hands on a few pages of the script for “Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter” and it starts a big controversy that he was a vampire hunter.

i.e. this whole thing is quite literally laughable.

The quest to bring in the agenda that Jesus Christ had a wife is to try and destroy the the fact that he was GOD in the flesh, to marginalize his deity... it’s the spirit of the anti-Christ at work.

The rest of the sentence is cut off.

That's just too convenient, Dear Watson.

No Christian worth his/her salt believes that Christ had a flesh wife. There is great distinction in the Written word between what the Creator and His Only Begotten Son said and what other supernatural and flesh beings had to say. Why even the devil in his supernatural body tempted Christ and offered him alll IF Christ would bend His knee to the devil. Maybe Harvard is gearing up to declare the devil ‘god’ given what the devil is said to have said.

Well, yes, there are! However, The Bride of Christ as mentioned in the NT is his church.

It is my understanding that there may have been 20 people named Jesus when Christ was alive. Many claimed to be the Messiah. A fragment written about the time of Muhammad removes much viability. Coptic's have other questionable writings.
