OBAMA CAMPAIGN DENIES ANTI-MORMON MESSAGE AIMED AT CATHOLICS
One News Now ^ | October 3, 2012

The Catholic Association is taking to task a pro-Obama group for an "incredibly intolerant" polling effort in Ohio, suggesting Catholics should not support Mitt Romney because he's a Mormon.

A group calling itself "Catholics for Obama" is conducting push-polling in The Buckeye State, attempting to make Romney's Mormonism an issue. Obama supporters making phone calls on behalf of the group have several Catholic organizations outraged about the nature of the calls. In a scripted phone message, Catholics are being asked: "How can you support a Mormon who does not believe in Jesus Christ?"

Maureen Ferguson is senior policy advisor for The Catholic Association.

"We're deeply concerned about it, but frankly not that surprised given this president's abysmal record on religious liberty," says Ferguson. "He has chosen to pick a fight with people of faith over and over again in his administration. So it's very disappointing and a disturbing report."

Ferguson's group described Congressman Paul Ryan, the GOP vice-presidential candidate, as a "smart, serious Catholic [who] has been steadfast on issues of fundamental principle - defending religious liberty, life, and traditional marriage." Contrary to what Catholics for Obama contend, Ferguson says many Catholics support the Romney/Ryan ticket.

"This [polling by Catholics for Obama] is incredibly intolerant, not to mention the fact that the Constitution prohibits any religious test for office," says the senior policy advisor. "And also just shocking in that it comes from a president who has done nothing but try to divide people based on religious grounds."

An Obama campaign spokesperson issued the following statement to U.S. News, which broke the story: "As a campaign, we have made it unequivocally clear that a candidate's religion is out of bounds. The activity that is being attributed to the Obama campaign and our Catholics for Obama program is categorically false."

Those “Catholics for Obama” support a pro-Islamist, pro-abortion, pro-infanticide, pro-homosexual anti-Catholic secular humanist named Barack Hussein Obama. They lie.

The problem with anti-Mormonism pushes by liberals and other assorted infidels is that they are so utterly ineffective. Give me money and free reign to design ads, and the LDS would lose millions of its members within the first week.

Well, Mormonism is relevant because Bishop Romney is high up in the LDS. But the liberals are going to have a hard time pushing the issue, since they blame all “discrimination” on conservatives. So, about all they can say is, “Psst! Did you know that Romney is a Mormon? Pass it on, but quietly!”

I think that there will be some problems with this issue, more among Evangelicals than Catholics. But if push comes to shove, better a Mormon like Mitt than a Mohammedan like Hussein.

Well, thanks to the brilliant GOP, they’ve managed to shove plenty of faithful folks into the Kobayashi Maru.

At least we do have actual Christians to vote for.

Are you soliciting donations on Free Republic?

Is this what your 'god' is leading you to do? Make a youtube video then.

“How can you support a Mormon who does not believe in Jesus Christ?”
///
In 2008, Obama himself described Jesus as nothing more than a teacher. By his deeds, we know he not Christian.
Abortion alone, would make me vote for ANYONE against him.

But wait, the mainstream media keeps telling us that only "evangelicals" don't think Mormons are Christian. Why are they running this story? Make up your mind, mainstream media.

Anyone that votes for the baby murdering, homo-marriage-loving radical Obamagabe, CAN NOT call themselves a Catholic any longer. Fact is fact. Either follow the teachings on the moral absolutes of the Church, or don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

So that's why Lieberman had to run as an independent last time! [/sarcasm]

All kidding aside, can you imagine any Catholic Democrat organization using such a tactic against an Orthodox Jewish opponent? Well . . . if the Orthodox Jewish opponent were Republican, they just might.

Catholics for Obama — talk about an oxymorn.

No Catholic should vote for the abortion funding, baby-killer Obama. (Even if they are a dimocrat.)

You post conclusory statements that you have not proven. For example, here you say Mitt Romney is a pathological liar with an insatiable lust for power. The burden of proof is on you, the one making the conclusory assertion, not on those questioning your n00b motives.

We were already arguing about this in the other thread, which I falsely assumed your response here was in. Go back there and watch the Mittens montage video I posted.
