The only “ SINS “ that the works based, hellfire and brimstone, preach against “ SIN “ preachers don’t preach against is his or her own.

"but to be honest I believe they just want a change from the small town inbreed incestuous church they left."

Or maybe they are just unregenerate self-absorbed worldly people who prefer an entertaining social club over worshiping the Lord.

not really. there might well be something to ‘judge’ in this but the evidence wasn’t presented. most likely this is just another attack on megachurches ~ or cathedrals ~ I can hear the peasants of Beauvais rallying under their torches and pitchforks ‘Zoot alors ~ zee Cathedral will take all the good priests and who will attend st wilhelmina’s chapel in the future’?

>>>“Non-denominational”+Megachurch= watered down Christianity afraid to offend the Godless.

WOW! Talking about throwing the baby out with the bath-water. How about this: If you are interested...freepmail me and I will give you the website of my "mega-church." There...you can watch our teacing pastor from just Wed night (or any night) offend the Godless. You can also watch our senior pastor as he offends the Godless...by preaching the gospel the way the apostles did. OR...if you are in the area...you can come into our connection center. PRETEND you are Godless and see if you don't get offended.

Sitting in a small church where the preacher does nothing but preach the same sermon to "the choir"...and doesn't reach anyone for the Gospel doesn't make you right. I hear SO MANY people talk like you.

I simply ask them: How many people have YOU led to Christ this month? This week? How many people have placed their faith in Christ because of YOU? For me...in the last few weeks its been 5. I am in touch with all of them and discipling them. One of them was gloriously saved after a suicide attempt (a real one...not a fake-out).

Are you leading people to Christ...or just being critical?

James 2:14-:

"What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and be filled," and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself."

NO cheers, unfortunately.

We have a lot of small churches like that, we call them Hayes churches. They had 22 children and they started a church and then some disagreed and started their own church and it still goes on and on. There are probably 15 or 16 churches and most of them have about 15 members and most of them are related.

Try reading the chapter "Protestant" in Garrison Keillor's Lake Wobegon Days...

Cheers!

The more I think about this story, the more it sounds like a hit piece.
It’s very vagueness is suspicious. These women could be discussing any church in Austin and I believe that is the idea behind the story. As in “all Christians are selfish phonies”. Not for a minute do I believe any chuch would stop with taking the woman to lunch then allowing her to go back out on the street.
I am even questioning the likelihood of the woman wondering around the church and making no effort to find help for herself. Unless she is mentally challeneged people just are not that ignorant.
Finally, the story about the pastor who vowed to visit every home within a square mile of his church is also questionable. In reality, that is not humanly posible in an urban setting; he would have time for nothing else.

I’m still trying to figure out how a pregnant and homeless woman is that church’s fault.

We work with the homeless by accident.A lady gave out our cards to them so I get to know them. Some want to remain that way and we help them with food and clothes.Others lost their jobs and landed on the street.Women can get placed right away. It's harder for the men.I can say it takes an interfaith coalition to help these people get housing-God bless them. But if everyone works together miracles happen.I have seen it .

Yes, that is part of the reason I said it. It was an attack. We all serve the Lord in different ways and some will be left with more than others as their works are tested by fire. Some will escape with only their eternal soul. 1 Cor 3:15

Albion, that is a great ‘sentimentality’ quote. Perfect.

Why didn't she grouse at the guy for not pulling over at the time he saw her first to help her? Why didn't Heather first go to the church to ask if they were aware of her instead of waiting to see the woman first? I suspect that there are many unanswered questions or questions left not asked. It's easy to blast the church for inaction. Maybe they did ignore the lady but maybe they didn't. To whom did she speak at the church? Someone in authority or a regular member or a secretary? She doesn't sound any different than anyone else who thinks it's somebody else's responsibility to care for the weak.

“Or maybe they are just unregenerate self-absorbed worldly people who prefer an entertaining social club over worshiping the Lord.”

I also failed to say that most of these churches have a mentality of “if you don’t attend OUR baptist church you are going to hell” Notice I said “our” church. To them all other churches, including other baptists are going to hell because they are “wrong” in some way.

Now do you see what I mean when I say incestuous and you get retards? Yes I am using harsh words but then again I call a spade a spade. These people don’t preach the gospel they just stand at the pulpit and degrade other churches. What is with that?

Meanwhile a pregnant girl sits outside a mega church and no one helps her? Okay you don’t have to wave money in her face but at least can you drive her to the local women’s shelter or make some calls for her? While doing that share the gospel with her at the same time. Yea I think that is what Jesus would have done.

We have a meth addict in our extended family.

We have prayer.

They have free will.

Now we pray to keep the fallout away from our children.

And I will accept prayer from anyone, for anyone, including Obama.

Funny I belonged to a UCC church (kinda middle of the road one) where my famiily had been full tithe members for a number of years. When life took a bang I asked for some minor assistance and was turned down. Only not memebers were helped, bosnia Muslim refugees, black inner city kids. Not church members.

What denomination are you that takes you into all these obscure, small town Baptist churches where you see things of retards and incest that the rest of us don’t see and have never seen?

When the mega church turned this woman away, they turned away Jesus Christ Himself. Blind guides and white-washed tombs. What good is a basketball court or adding another wing to the building? They strain out a gnat and swallow a camel.

I have the unfortunate pleasure /sarc of meeting with these people on an almost daily basis. No I don't attend church there, is why I was condemned to hell by them. I mean this too. I was told that since I did not go to THEIR church I was going to hell. I could go on but I'd bore you with the details. Most churches I deal with are nice Christian people don't get me wrong. It is this these few apples that spoil the whole bunch. You know I don't recall in the Bible that it says I have to attend a certain church to go to heaven. I know the Bible says something about if two or more are gathered here in my name I will be present. In many of the Christians churches I have seen, (that are not my church) I have witnesses that these were true believers calling upon the Lord, so therefor I know Jesus was there. So how is it these little rinky ding, hick town, backwards baptist can say "we are the only ones going to heaven". Maybe I should be more forgiving of the "retarded" but it was just the way they said it to me that was down right mean and in no way Christian. It was like they did not care if I went to hell and wanted me to go there.

Well, the problem seems obvious to most anyone reading your posts.
