I decided to create this thread, where those who would like can come and we can all pray here together for the victory of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan in the general election.
Prayer is powerful and I invite all who desire to come here and post prayers.
Over the years he had answered many of my prayers though I have not asked for trivial favors or for something I would not consider within his purview, such as winning the lottery.
Prayer to St Anthony:
For those so inclined, feel free to use this prayer.
“Thy Name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!”
We trust in you
Divine Mercy, repose of hearts, peace amidst fear:
We trust in you
Divine Mercy, unfathomed in all the mysteries of God:
We trust in you
God our Father: you who are Mercy itself: forgive us our sins. Do not look on our evil and estranged hearts but upon the sorrowful passion of Your Son. Take pity on our land and turn us back toward Yourself.
+ We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, our Lord. Amen. +
Thank you for the thread.
Father God, we know, as a country, we don’t deserve your mercy. Your presence has been rejected in public life and, by many, in private life as well. The Christian heritage of this nation has been watered down, and some would have it disappear altogether.
But there are still those of us who love You and worship You, and we ask for your mercy on our country, not because we are worthy, but through Your divine mercy and grace. We ask you to banish the current administration, with its hatred of Your beloved Israel, its love of false gods, its support for perversion, and its cold absence of love. Father, we humbly ask that You visit justice on these people, and remove them from government tomorrow.
We thank you and praise you in advance for the outcome. All praise in heaven and earth belongs to you, Lord. Glory to the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
We are a stiff-necked, hard-hearted and foolish people; we have forgotten your blessings to us, presumed to know your world better than you, spent our inheritance, embraced debauchery, followed our own selfish wishes and scorned those of others. We have puffed ourselves up with pride anchored in frivolity and vanity. We have become lazy and cowardly. We have forgotten the labors and sacrifices of all who went before, who carved from wilderness the greatest, most abundant and free-est land in history. Again and again we have rejected you and refused to see your hand in all that we now take for granted.
We do not deserve your help, but we beg that once again you might grant us one more chance. We pray that you will send us competent, God-fearing, humble leaders— ones who will seek truth, justice and peace, make a good example to all, provide a path to a future, and re-establish this country as the world’s greatest hope.
But, if this is not to be, strengthen and soften our hearts and help us to accept your will and not be bitter in our disappointment.
Help us trust in your provision for us, which we can never fully comprehend.
Thank You, Lord, in advance for the victory that is upon us! Thank You, Lord, that Mitt Romney has won this election in a landslide and we thank You that states such as Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Virginia, Florida and others are voting for Romney, in Jesus’ Name!
We stand in courage and of good cheer, for Your Word says that You have overcome the world and greater is He that is in us than He that is in the world! We thank You, Lord, for Your Awesome Power and we thank You that You have awakened a sleeping giant, the American people. You have awakened us to the truth and the fact that we are dependent upon You and we can’t exist without You.
We thank You and praise You, Lord, for the victory...that Mitt Romney is our President and Paul Ryan is our Vice President........that the Republican Party is in the majority in both the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives, in Jesus’ Name, AMEN!
We pray for those of our number who are suffering from loss, physical illness and spiritual sickness.May the peace only You can provide ease their pain.
In this and all things , we pray in the name of the Holy Lamb Of God, Jesus the Christ.
Prayer for the Nation
~~ by Thomas Jefferson, taken from “Prayers for Today,” published by Leaflet Missal Co.
Almighty God, You have given us this good land for our heritage. We humbly ask You that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of Your favor and glad to do Your will. Bless our land with honorable endeavor, sound learning and pure manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion, from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties and fashion into one united people the multitude brought here out of many nations and tongues. Endow with the Spirit of wisdom those to whom in Your Name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that through obedience to Your law we may show forth Your praise among the nations on earth. In time of prosperity fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble do not allow our trust in You to fail. Amen.
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on us! AMEN!
Just got back from Mass. Huge crowd in the big ole’ Cathedral, the priest was surprised. Great homily on the intrusion of government. We sang “God Bless America” at the end, people applauded. God be with us!
Domine, salvam fac rem publicam tuam
et exaudi nos in die qua invocaverimus te.
Lord, save your Republic
and hear us when we cry to Thee
The Latin and English might be a bit off but the basic sentiment is right.
