Instead Gaza should have been taken to task on the missle attacks going on against Israel.

Also give Israel CREDIT that it has gone outs of its way to PROTECT the Christian as well Jewish shrines in the Holy Land.

This guy is President of an official Vatican council, unlike Pfleger.

Social Justice is rampant in the Catholic church (the US Bishops were all for Obamacare until the abortion plank was inserted). Anti-Israel sentiment goes along with socialism.

Whoa - I read the same about people using the handle “WestbrooK” - I too don’t know if it is true either.

...President of the Vatican Council for Culture, ...

Hey, as shown in the most recent election, this guy has done a great job in the Catholic culture department. Let’s all listen to him! Hey wait a minute! Most Jews voted with the anti-Israel side, even after they saw Obama surround Israel with the Muslim Brotherhood!

Who to hate? Who to blame? Who is the victim and who is the hater?

Catholics can reject what he says. We are not bound by his statements any more than Protestants are bound to accept Al Sharpton’s views on abortion.

Well thanks for the link - I will truly look into it, but I am extremely skeptical (though I’ve been wrong at least once before, by my own count...)

public statement the pope made on Sunday.

In a startling pronouncement about Jesus Christ’s revelation of the signs leading up to His return to Earth, Pope Benedict declared that “Jesus does not describe the end of the world, and when He uses apocalyptic images, He does not act as a ‘seer.’ On the contrary, He wishes to ensure that His disciples in every age remain unmoved by dates and predictions.”

This statement is so far removed from reality, it can only represent a deliberate attempt to pervert the truth. It argues against the very reality of biblical revelation itself.

The very power by which Jesus Christ ministered on Earth was clearly revealed as a Spirit which “will show you things to come” (John 16:13).

Jesus Christ Himself gave, in live format, delivered direct to His disciples, the most powerfully detailed prophecy about the future, most especially the end times, that is preserved in the Bible (Matthew 24; Mark 13, Luke 21).

The Word of God declares of the very Godhead, “Worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” (Revelation 19:10).

The pope’s statement is not just a grave deceit. It goes beyond that. It is plain blasphemy.

But why should we be surprised?

Do you actually think they care if this is the truth or more journalistic trickery?

As a Catholic I can say the Vatican as well as most dioceses have more than their share of Azzholes. Long live Israel.

> Well thanks for the link

It is my sincerest prayer that this is NOT true, believe me.

However, I have been dismayed at the dismissive attitude many of the Catholics I know have for Jews in general and Israel in particular.

Apparently all is fair in service to the father of lies.

Peace be with you.

“I read somewhere that the previous pope was a Polish chemical salesman who sold Zyklon gas to the Nazis.”

Yeah, I'm sure that all Pope's held part time jobs in their spare time. Idiot

Once again, Freepers prove how prone they are to being suckered and misled, especially those of you with a strong anti-Catholic bias. It’s not that the Catholic Church doesn’t have its share of Marxist and homosexual infiltrators, but until the Pope comes out and says something like this, you all need to calm the hell down and stop being so gullible.

Is anybody surprised? I’m a Protestant and I’m sure there’s a bunch of leaders from different denominations that oppose Israel (and support gay marriage, abortions etc., etc.). How many swirls to the bottom of the bowl? At some point in time, Israel is going to be completely alone and the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is going to put some supernatural sandal to natural tuckus. It’s almost surreal to witness this filth in the church.

Karol Wojtyla Working for IG Farben

The claim Karol Wojtyla (John Paul II) worked for Farben in his youth is one of the more widespread rumors on the Internet about this pope. Yet despite the repetition of this “fact” over and over again, I have yet to read anywhere that cites a source backing up this assertion. No papal resume, no Farben employment records, no witness statements from co-workers. Quite simply, no shred of evidence to validate these claims.

John Paul was an orphan by 1941 having lost his parents and a brother. He was 21 years old. Contrary to being a Nazi supporter, official histories tell of John Paul’s “intensive” connections to the Jewish community in Krakow, Poland. Furthermore, being a Roman Catholic was not a favorable decision in the eyes of the Nazi regime who had imprisoned numerous priests. During the war, he worked in a quarry (1940-1944) and at the Solvay chemical factory. While at this time I am unclear what this chemical factory was, there is no reason to believe the factory was connected to Farben seeing as John Paul was Polish and the company (Farben) was German.

John Paul’s primary preoccupation during the German occupation of Poland? Preparing himself mentally, spiritually and physically to become a priest. Shortly after the war in November 1946 he was ordained a Roman Catholic priest (having been at the seminary in Krakow since 1942, studying under Cardinal Adam Stefan Sapieha).

That’s one individual, not “the Vatican”. It’s equivalent to quoting some Federal official below Cabinet level with the lead-in, “Washington said ...”
