The Christian church is built upon and validated by the testimony and understanding given voice by the Apostle Peter, as recorded in the St. Matthew’s Gospel, Chapter 16, the 18th verse, i.e., “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the Living God;” and not in any sense on the person of Peter, nor on any unstated and undefined position of primacy accorded to him among the corps of Jesus’ immediate company of followers (those whom we call Jesus’ Disciples), that certain human interpreters have chosen without warrant to confer upon him.
The central and profound truth encompassed in Peter’s spontaneous and profound acknowledgement of who and what Jesus is manifests the sole and sufficient foundation of Christianity.
Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one bodywhether Jews or Gentiles, slave or freeand we were all given the one Spirit to drink. (I Corinthians 12:12,13)
